The entire scenario of two women, Iris (Kate Winslet) and Amanda (Cameron Diaz), arranging a home exchange to escape their separate heartbreaks during the holiday season looked like a unique idea and storyline. Further, what also stood out on screen was the chemistry between the lead actors, notably Kate Winslet and Jack Black, who played her love interest, Miles, in the movie.

This chemistry was not just limited to the screen; both actors were often seen exchanging loving words for each other off-screen as well.

Now adding to it, in a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Winslet revealed an unusual nickname that Jack Black gave her while filming the 2006 romantic comedy hit. She added:

My on-set nickname to this day is K-dub, people just call me K-dub, and he started it.

She went on to praise Black, saying that while improv is not necessarily a component of a rom-com, Jack Black always found a way to incorporate it, adding:

The rhythm and the cadence to everything is quite important and so there wasn’t much room to sort of add things spontaneously, but Jack would always find a way to slip something in and I was always really grateful for that

Winslet also stated that Jack Black is at the top of her list of co-stars with whom she would love to work again, a mutual sentiment that Jack Black also shares.

Black’s Character Miles Dumont was a great composer in the movie and had a pleasant and responsible personality. This suited Iris perfectly as she was not seeking anybody as charming as him, but during her brief visit to Los Angeles, she fell in love with Miles.

So, unlike Amanda and Graham, their relationships were more mellow and sweet, which fans thoroughly loved while watching the Christmas classic.

Holding the same emotions as the audience, Jack Black told ComingSoon.net in 2006 that he was relieved that he and Winslet did not have any make-out moments in the film. He also added:

Just because, oh God, I am not one for big public displays of affection and you can’t get more public than in a major motion picture. So, I was relieved that our story was the sweet one and the other one was the full tongues-a-blazin.

The Holiday was the only time that Kate Winslet and Jack Black got the opportunity to star in a movie together. While both performers have demonstrated their willingness to work together, only time will tell whether they are given the chance to do so again or not.
