Some of the recent updates surrounding Robert Pattinson’s return in The Batman sequel have fans disappointed. Released in 2022, the DC film was a huge hit, making over $772 million at the box office and earning praise for Matt Reeves’ direction and cast’s performance, along with three Oscar nominations. The highly anticipated sequel of the film is expected to start production this March following several delays due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
While the production is expected to start soon, fans are not too happy with some of the recent updates that suggest that the film does not have a complete script as of yet.
Robert Pattinson’s Batman 2 Doesn’t Have a Script Yet?
Robert Pattinson’s The Batman Part II initially faced a delay due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes. While the sequel was initially set to start production in November 2023, it was pushed to March of this year. However, some of the recent updates surrounding the movie have raised questions about the completion of its script.
Earlier, the DC Studios head, James Gunn, shared on Threads that although he has heard a pitch, he is yet to receive the actual script. Jeffrey Wright, the actor who portrayed the character of James Gordon in the 2022 film, also shared that he has not seen anything when asked about any potential development in the movie.
“You’ve seen as much of a script as I have at this point,” he said before adding, “I haven’t seen anything yet.” He also claimed that he is patient and wants Reeves to focus on creating the “magical and wonderful” story he has in mind.
These updates, coupled with a recent interview from The Batman cinematographer Greig Fraser, have left fans anxious not only about Robert Pattinson’s return as Batman but also about the sequel’s impact on the upcoming DCU projects.
Fans Express Concern Over the Potential Delay in The Batman Part II
The recent comment by The Batman cinematographer Greig Fraser has further concerned the fans, who have been eagerly waiting for the film. When asked about Robert Pattinson’s Batman sequel in a recent interview, Fraser said, “Who knows,” concerning the 2023 strikes and prior situations, that caused disruptions in the industry.
However, he also stated that he would love to do another Batman film. While no official confirmations have been made, Matt Reeves’ did suggest in an earlier interview that he would love to work with the Oscar-winning cinematographer in the Batman sequel as well.
