When Carrie Fisher Was Asked To Reprise Her Role

Known for portraying the role of Princess Leia, Carrie Fisher was asked to reprise her role in 2015 in the film Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The contract was for three films which included The Force Awakens, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and, Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

The actress agreed to the films, but she had only one condition for herself. Fisher asked that her daughter, Billie Lourd, should also make an appearance in the film even though it’s a small role.

It was later revealed that Lourd auditioned for the lead role of Rey. As we all know, the role eventually went to Daisey Ridley. However, Billie Lourd wasn’t disappointed at all.

In an interview on The Ellen Show (via Variety), Lourd revealed that The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams called her when he couldn’t find any actresses for the lead role.

J.J. Abrams called me to come in for ‘Star Wars’ because he couldn’t find someone for the lead, I went in and he ended up giving me this tiny role with a couple lines and I was super excited. I didn’t know what was going to happen, ended up going and fell in love with it — was weirdly singing Jersey Boys on set, really comfortable.

Although Lourd auditioned for the role of Rey, she was hired as Lieutenant Connix instead. Since she revealed that the role was a bit comfortable for her, veteran actress Carrie Fisher gave her some words of wisdom.

These words of wisdom proved to be one of the truest words that had ever been spoken about Hollywood and the pursuit of passion. Wanting nothing but good for her daughter, Fisher encouraged Billie Lourd to take acting a bit more seriously!

Carrie Fisher Had Some Sage Advice For Her Daughter

Being a veteran actress herself in the 1980s and the 90s, Fisher had a lot of experience working in Hollywood films and projects. Not just the acting aspect, but Fisher also knew what it was like to be a famous celebrity, and the cons that come with it.

When her daughter Billie Lourd starred in Star Trek: The Force Awakens, Fisher was obviously overjoyed. However, Lourd revealed that when she was done with the movie, she told Fisher that the role was comfortable for her.

As her talks continued, Lourd said that since she was comfortable in the role of Lieutenant Connix, Fisher wanted her to take acting a bit more seriously.

I came home and my mom said, ‘You know, this is really weird that you’re comfortable here, this is one of the most uncomfortable environments in the world. If you’re comfortable here, you should do this.

Slowly but steadily, Billie Lourd is indeed making her way through Hollywood, since she has 5 upcoming projects lined up in various stages of development.
