John Cena is one of the few wrestlers who have successfully transitioned to films and Hollywood alongside Dwayne Johnson and Dave Bautista. He has already made a name for himself as DC’s Peacemaker and chances are that he will portray that character in the near future again.
Now, he has again bagged a big project and will star in one of the most anticipated films of 2023. It’s now confirmed that Cena is definitely in the Barbie movie and fans couldn’t be happier. But what role is he playing? There’s a lot of speculation about that.
Is John Cena In Barbie?
The Greta Gerwig-directed Barbie film recently released its second teaser trailer and revealed that John Cena is a part of the movie. However, the wrestler wasn’t seen in the trailer, just his name was mentioned in the cast list. This led many to speculate about the possible role of The Suicide Squad star in the film. Many fans think that he is playing a version of Ken since a majority of the male actors in the film, like Ryan Gosling, Simu Liu, and others, are playing different versions of the character.
Several of his fans think that maybe he is playing a version of himself, as a WWE wrestler. However, others think that he is not playing Ken since if he was, he would have been featured in the trailer that introduced the Barbies and Kens of the movie. So his role is a bit of a mystery right now. Adding to the suspense is the fact that he wasn’t given a character poster.
This was surprising because almost every major character, even Helen Mirren, the narrator of the film, has received a poster. This could mean that he doesn’t have a major role in the movie. As per The Sun, John Cena is actually playing the love interest of Dua Lipa, who plays a Barbie mermaid in the movie. However, fans aren’t too concerned with what role he is playing. They are just happy to see him in the film.

Fans of John Cena took to Twitter to celebrate their favorite star being in one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year. Barbie is clashing with Oppenheimer at the box office, but the positive reaction to its trailers means that it can surely hold its own against Christopher Nolan’s juggernaut. Now, with Cena confirmed to be in the film, his fans will surely tip the box office scales a bit in favor of the Margot Robbie-led Barbie.

John Cena in a Barbie movie is unexpected. After all, one would have expected to see the actor in a role that’s probably akin to Peacemaker. After all, the star has an action-hero image. However, his fans are happy to see him branch out and expand his horizons. As for how the film and his role will be received, that will be seen when the movie opens in theaters.
