Emily Blunt is an incredibly talented actress, being part of some extremely successful projects like The Devil Wears Prada, Mary Poppins Returns, the Quite Place franchise, and most recently, her work in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. If there is one aspect that shines brighter than Blunt’s work, it is her equally famous husband, John Krasinski.

Outside of being extremely hilarious, Krasinski is also an exceptionally talented actor, having worked in the cult-classic sitcom, The Office, as well as being part of the Jack Ryan series and appearing in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Being this good at what he does, it is quite bizarre to find out that the actor almost quit the profession weeks before getting the role he is most known for.

My mom came to pick me up from that theater school after sixteen weeks or something and as soon as they left the drive-way of the school, I say ‘I’m moving to New York and I’m gonna be an actor’ and my mom paused for probably half a second and she said, ‘great, go and do it. The only thing I ask you is in two and a half-three years if you don’t any sense that this is going to happen,’ we used to fish as kids so she was like ‘If you don’t get a nibble or a bit in two and a half or three years, you have to make me one promise.’ and I was like what. She said,’ You gotta pull yourself out because as your mother, you can’t ask me to tell you to give up on your dreams.’ He said.

The actor revealed that his mother was extremely supportive of him, urging him to go and follow his dreams, but she did put forth one condition. She asked Krasinski that if things do not work out in his favor, he will come back on his own as she would not be able to ask her son to give up on his dreams. The actor found this condition quite fair and move to New York soon after this.

“Two and a half years later, I was like so I’m out, this is terrible. this is so scary. This is the worst and waiting tables is not as fun as they say’ and she (his mother) said,’ You know it’s September. Just wait it out. Just wait until the end of the year. Don’t give up just yet.'” He stated “I was telling her to come get me. Three weeks later, I got The Office.”

His mother, however, asked him to try for a little longer, stating that if it didn’t work out for him by the end of the year, he could come back home. Luckily, the actor listened to his mother’s advice and he got cast in The Office, the television series that is responsible for Krasinski’s fame.
