Giancarlo Esposito has officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the actor has dropped a few hints about who his character could be. Audiences are privy to the fact that the actor will be playing a character who could potentially have his own series and is not someone that fans have been able to predict yet.
However, an alleged leaked photo from the set of Captain America: Brave New World might have hinted at the character that the actor is playing in the MCU, and the character just made an appearance in X-Men ’97. This character might be in the running to be the US government’s version of Nick Fury, as rumor has it that Thunderbolt Ross would like Sam Wilson to reassemble the Avengers.
Giancarlo Esposito might be playing Henry Gyrich in Captain America: Brave New World
Henry Gyrich is a liaison of the US Government to the superhero community of America, with whom he is often in conflict. Gyrich most recently made an appearance in X-Men ’97, where he was convicted for the assassination of Charles Xavier. This speculation is based on a leaked set photo of Giancarlo Esposito‘s stunt double in what seems to be the set of Captain America: Brave New World.
Wait this is the best take I’ve seen so far… I could absolutely see it, esp since he’s going to continue to be in the mcu all the way into the X-Men where he is more prominent

The character is considered to be one of the more dangerous human characters, in the same league as the likes of Reverend Stryker and Bolivar Trask. Characters like Henry Gyrich are going to have a bigger role in the MCU, given that the US Government seems to be getting more involved with the superhero community in the absence of the Avengers.
Captain America: Brave New World might bring the Avengers back together
Captain America: Brave New World is reportedly set to begin the mission to assemble the Avengers again, who have been largely absent from the MCU in the wake of Avengers: Endgame. Sam Wilson, on the orders of President Ross (or as a response to his actions), might see it in the people’s best interests to gather a new team of heroes and re-establish the Avengers to battle the threats that individuals have been fighting for so long.
The events that are set into motion in Captain America: Brave New World could culminate in Avengers 5, which might be a little more grounded, with a focus on assembling the team rather than fighting some sort of multiversal threat, like the first Avengers movie. This could indicate that going forward the MCU could be following their Phase 1 playbook, at least when it comes to assembling the team in the first place.
