The studio is experiencing its best moment since its inception, and the followers are waiting for the next big project. In a recent interview, Hidetaka Miyazaki, the popular game director and one of genre’s creators, discussed the creative process behind these award-winning titles.

The developer delved into the creative process, saying that the studio behind these games, FromSoftware, takes full advantage of the strengths of previous games and mechanics that worked to improve them and thus create a much more refined product.

One of Miyazaki’s characteristics is that he has been practically involved in all the studio’s most popular games since Demon’s Souls back in 2009. This type of experience helped the director improve each new title a bit more, reaching the quality of games like Sekiro or Elden Ring.

Miyazaki meticulously examines every detail during the creative process to guarantee its incorporation into the final product. He applied the knowledge he gained from previous games to several titles. Miyazaki said the following about this process,

“This is true with Elden Ring and true with Dark Souls as well: I’ll look at what’s being done and say, ‘Alright, this, this, this, and this I’m going to oversee,’ because I know which points in that experience are going to be the most effective and sandwich the high-level vision plus the details that players see.”

He also added that some things are simple to imagine conceptually but difficult to implement in development. Fans are eager to know what will come after this Elden Ring expansion, once all the frenzy ends. FromSoftware has not disclosed a single detail about its next project or its release date.

Many of the studio’s followers are speculating about a new Dark Souls or even a completely new IP, like Sekiro was at the time. At the moment, the fans will have to wait at least a couple of months to see this next project.

I'm a big fan of movies and videogames in general. I really love Pokémon and Godzilla. One of my favorite games is The Last of Us, Part II. A compelling and well-written story is always welcome.
