Henry Cavill has become one of the most underappreciated actors in Hollywood. Over the past few years, fans have seen an incredibly talented actor, with great knowledge about the projects he takes up, get mistreated over and over again. Starting with his award-worthy performance as Superman, being one of the best people suited for the role, and continuing on with the disloyalties of The Witcher.
As all hope was lost for fans of the actor, it was announced that he would be starring in the television adaptation of Warhammer 40K. Cavill has a reputation for having a great understanding of source materials, and knowing that he would be a part of this new chapter in the stories of the games brought a sense of relief to fans.
However, this flame may also burn out soon if he does not care. One simply must not allow the past to repeat itself.
Henry Cavill’s Horrible Curse
There has been a consistently unfortunate trend in Henry Cavill’s career; a disloyalty to inspiration. Starting with his 2011 film, Immortals, the actor was forced to witness one of the most beautifully complex mythologies in history, the Greek mythology, ripped to shreds and picked apart to see what worked for the movie.
The pieces that fit in the puzzle they were trying to make stuck around; however, the way that they were deformed until they were unidentifiable made it difficult to watch.
Then it came time for him to put on a red cape and join the DC Universe. While there is no denying that Cavill was excellent for the role, Zack Snyder’s take on the character is famously unfaithful to its source material. When the actor finally got to be a part of a series based on something he was a hardcore fan of, The Witcher, it also slipped from his grasp.
The series famously lost its touch with the very work it was trying to adapt, and no matter how much Cavill tried to protest against it, nothing was done. Not being able to stand by and seeing something great being turned into something convenient for a plot, he left the series. A fan pointed out this exact pattern, mentioning how the actor deserves a lot better than what the industry has handed him.
Henry Cavill loved The Witcher but he clearly wanted the studio to respect the book material and it must have disappointed him to see them mock it. He ended up eventually leaving it behind for Superman only for DC to drop him again within 2 months.

Multiple times in his career, Cavill has acted as a force between the source material he deeply cares about, and the studio executives, who don’t. Knowing this shadow that has followed his career, the actor has to be very careful that the cycle does not continue.
Henry Cavill Needs To Make His Voice Heard
Henry Cavill has famously become involved in a Warhammer 40K series that is adapting the beloved books. There are twelve games in total and two more are on the way. Considering just how much story there is to tell and how much can be adapted, there is no doubt that the show will last for quite some time and may even lead to spin-off projects.
When projects stop looking like creative expressions and more like a guaranteed cash flow, the integrity of the art itself wanes over time. Studios want to add their own flare and make changes here and there to fit their bigger plan of milking a franchise, and at the end of the day, fans are forced to have a front-seat view of the destruction of their favorite work.
Cavill experienced that exact feeling when he was working on The Witcher, having been a huge fan of the games and the books. An image of similar events can be seen now with Warhammer 40K. In several interviews, the actor has been very vocal about just how big of a fan he is of the games, having gone as far as to build his own gaming PC online.
Some events are different this time around, with Cavill not only being an actor in the series but also a producer. Knowing these facts, he would have to be a very important part of the production and writing of it, using all of his knowledge as a fan and the power he holds to make sure that history does not repeat itself.
