Right after media outlets reported Cage’s involvement in the upcoming MGM+ and Prime Video live-action series Noir, the actor’s upcoming psychological thriller The Surfer released its first clip.
Set to release in May 2024, Nicolas Cage’s psychological thriller first made headlines in 2023, after THR exclusively reported The Surfer’s sale at Cannes. From Vivarium director Lorcan Finnegan, the movie thereafter dropped its first trailer right when People magazine announced Cage’s involvement in Marvel as an older version of the web-slinger.

As per THR, Nicolas Cage started preparing to ride some waves for the first time on screen, after being cast to lead director Lorcan Finnegan’s elevated psychological thriller The Surfer in 2023. And now, after almost a year, the movie dropped its first clip that grabbed netizens’ attention, as Cage flawlessly steered the titular role of a man who travels to the edge of his sanity after returning to his hometown.
The Surfer narrates the tale of a man who returns to his beachside hometown in Australia, after spending years building a life for himself in the US. However, things escalate quickly after he gets humiliated in front of his teenage son by a local gang of surfers who claim strict ownership over the secluded beach of his childhood. Shockingly, Nicolas Cage’s character declares war against those in control of the bay, and all of a sudden, the film spins wildly out of control.

Nicolas Cage is Set to Play an Older Version of Spider-Man in Noir
Fans of Nicolas Cage are stunned by two back-to-back announcements from the star, with one being the teaser drop of The Surfer, while the other being his involvement in Marvel. According to reports from People magazine, Cage is currently making headlines for his upcoming appearance as the old version of Spider-Man.

After previously playing Marvel’s Ghost Rider, Nicolas Cage is now set to play the web-slinger in a new live-action series Noir. According to a release, the actor plays an “aging and down on his luck private investigator” in 1930s New York who must embrace his past as “the city’s one and only superhero” in the upcoming MGM+ and Prime Video live-action series, adapted from Marvel’s Spider-Man Noir.
Announced by Amazon, Noir will be directed by Emmy Award-winning director of Fleabag, Harry Bradbeer. So it seems, Nicolas Cage just added Noir to his lineup of future projects, which includes his psychological thriller The Surfer.
