Henry Cavill has left behind his role as Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher as he wanted to focus more on his role as Superman which he finally received after being removed from it some time ago. Cavill made his cameo in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam, and after James Gunn was appointed as the head of the new DCEU, Gunn removed Henry Cavill’s Superman from the scenario. But there are some speculations roaming around that Cavill might return after the fourth season of The Witcher.

Henry Cavill’s Return as Geralt After Season 4 of The Witcher

Given the fact that Lauren Schmidt has stated that the show will run for seven seasons and seeing how the first season has shown great response from the fans and also had great critic reviews. But seeing the fact that the second season has diverted from its original source content from the novel by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski the show did not that many positive reviews as it had in its first season. Now as we all know that Netflix has a tendency to cancel every good show and it will become a problem if people did not support the show anymore after Henry Cavill’s exit from the cast and end up attracting Netflix’s attention.

Henry Cavill was vocal about the fact that he would not return to play Geralt if he did not like the way the show was proceeding as the scriptwriters diverted from the original source material. Though in the first season, Cavill could point out some factual errors in the plot line that the show followed, the second season was just out of control. Although Liam Hemsworth will be joining the cast as Geralt, he is not behind Cavill when it comes to acting. So it rests on Hemsworth’s hands whether the fans will riot in order to bring back Henry Cavill or will be satisfied will his portrayal of Geralt of Rivia.

Why Henry Cavill’s Netflix Return Might Be an Unlikely Event

Although Henry Cavill has left his role as Geralt after the second season, the series producer has left the door open for his return and again taking up the role of Geralt. Though this event is very unlikely because after his exit from The Witcher and from his role as Superman in DC, he has been invested in the game adaptation of Warhammer 40,000 after partnering up with Amazon Studios. He has signed a multi-year project with Amazon after buying the rights for this game from Games Workshop while collaborating with Amazon Studios and Vertigo Entertainment.

Warhammer 40,000 will be the first show where Henry Cavill will act as an executive producer and will also star in the series. It is rumored that he will be portraying the role of Gregor Eisenhorn, an Imperial Inquisitor who was his favorite character when he used to play the game as a child. As Cavill is very much invested in making his childhood favorite game into a show that he is exclusively producing, it becomes highly unlikely that he would return to The Witcher especially when he left the cast due to the inconsistent following of the original source content.

The Witcher is available for streaming on Netflix.
