The search for the next 007 might be nearing its end, and to fans’ dismay, Henry Cavill might not be the one to fill Daniel Craig’s shoes in the next iteration of the British Spy. Per new reports, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who was previously rumored to be one of the frontrunners alongside Cavill, has been offered to take over the mantle for the next James Bond film.

While not everyone is enthralled by this report, as many felt Cavill was the superior option for the role, the Kick-Ass Star’s performance in the 2022 action thriller proves why he is perfect for Bond.

Starring as Tangerine in David Leitch’s Bullet Train, Aaron Taylor-Johnson doesn’t fall short of putting his Bond chops to the display. Despite being light-hearted for the most part, Bullet Train shares the same DNA as that of a Bond film, especially in terms of its action. Like a James Bond film, Bullet Train‘s action embraces the mixture of energetic fight sequences, accompanied by witty exchanges in the middle. As a result, the Marvel Star’s portrayal of Tangerine doesn’t differentiate much from that of 007, both in terms of physicality and delivering impressive and quippy remarks

Considering previous reports suggested that Bond producers were seeking a younger version of the spy after Daniel Craig, Taylor-Johnson, who is 33, seems like the perfect person to fill that bracket.

It Wasn’t Bullet Train That Opened the Door to James Bond for Aaron Taylor-Johnson

While his performance in Bullet Train is enough to convince fans why he can be the definitive choice for 007, it seems, his performance as Tangerine wasn’t the role that sealed the deal for him. Per The Sun, Aaron Taylor-Johnson‘s performance in the 2016 noir thriller Nocturnal Animals, pushed him to the forefront for the next Bond.

“Aaron may not be the best known in his field but he is an incredibly talented actor. His role in Nocturnal Animals showed his depth as an actor. He is the perfect person to play Bond and will pick up well from where Daniel left off.”

But it seems nothing is set in stone, as the source further claimed that it’s up to the actor, if he wishes to accept the offer or not. However, Eon Productions, the studio behind producing the Bond flicks, is reportedly assured that the Kick-Ass Star will accept the part, and we might finally see them making an official announcement sometime in the future.

“Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back. As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.”

While having Cavill helming the iconic part, which he fell inches short of back in the 2000s, would’ve been great, following Taylor-Johnson’s resume, it’s safe to say the future of Bond is in safe hands.
