The film recently surpassed $300 million, exceeding the domestic gross of Deadpool 2, which stood at $318.5 million. The film is on track to surpass the total grosses of both previous films in the series, both domestically and globally, after only two weekends in theaters.
With a worldwide collection of $658.8 million so far, it’s poised to rank among the top-grossing R-rated films globally, joining the ranks of hits like Oppenheimer and Joker. It is also projected to outpace Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ as the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time domestically.
The 2004 indie drama currently holds the top spot with $370 million. Ryan Reynolds’ film is aiming for at least $820 million worldwide by Sunday, which would make it the second-biggest film of 2024, trailing behind the animated blockbuster Inside Out 2, which has earned $1.5 billion so far.
