Thor: Love and Thunder was inevitably rated an unkempt disaster by many fans, spinning around more comedic tones than was necessary for the King of Asgard. From the storyline developed among the blatantly contrasting and not-sitting-well-with-each-other themes to the costume designated for Chris Hemsworth’s hero, it all seemed to have brutally fallen short.

The part about the costume was further felt deeply as the 2022 film came after Endgame, which saw the Asgardian in one of the most scruff transitions ever before getting back in good shape. To say the least, a different Viking-themed suit prepared in a concept art would have been the perfect battle gear for him, had it not been swapped for the more campy look as was seen in the movie.

Throughout his run as the superhero in live-action for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chris Hemsworth has donned some really iconic suits that added that extra charm and awe-strucking element to his character. However, that changed to a considerable extent in the fourth installment of the film series, Love and Thunder. And not in a good way, at that.

But things may not have always been this way, as concept artist Aleksi Briclot perfectly explained through his concept art for the character’s costume. As shared by the fantasy illustrator via his Instagram handle @aleksibriclot, this other costume would have seen Hemsworth’s superhero in a more “casual” outfit, “something with some zen vibes.”

Notably enough, this movie followed Avengers: Endgame, which saw him in one of the most epic transitions ever with his overweight and unkempt profile throughout the blip before he summoned a bolt of lightning to braid his beard and change into his suit to have a second go at the Mad Titan. This was why Briclot opted for a suit more inspired by his outfit from the 2019 masterpiece.

As per Briclot, this upgraded suit would have seen him transform from his black suit in Endgame to a white one, “following the character evolution in the story, it’s another new step in his path.” This suit also included an additional star power of another hero: Captain America. As Briclot explained: “I was also referring [to] the scales on the torso of Captain America.”

Effortlessly enough, this Viking-themed Asgardian battlesuit would have looked a million times more badass in Taika Waititi‘s 2022 movie on the superhero. If anything, it would have even aligned perfectly with the character transformation compared to the one we got, which felt more like a party-themed Thor in its shiny blue-golden colors on a brilliant red cape.

To say the least, this costume designed by Briclot would have fit perfectly on darker and more mature themes for Hemsworth’s superhero had Waititi opted for a more grounded approach to the movie than the campy one that just ceased to sit well with many. Nonetheless, fans are mourning the loss of seeing their favorite hero in something so epic as this Endgame-inspired suit.

Taking to the comment section of the Instagram post, here’s how they’re reacting to the same:

YOU MEAN WE MISSED OUT ON THIS!??!? πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’” ~ @gustavoandres_romeropineda

Gives me Odin vibes too for some reason. So much nicer than the one they settled on in my opinion πŸ˜… ~ @awcoffeeenoo

This would have been so much better than the fortnite skin they went with ~ @cordes.victor

Much much better than the one we got ~ @gbn_ayame

way way better than we got in the movie 😒 this costume and look would have won our hearts πŸ”₯ ~ @mohosartmultiverse.124

Definitely wish they had gone with this ~ @fire_z34

While these fan reactions already speak for themselves, it can’t be denied that fans were indeed robbed of Hemsworth playing a more badass version of his character while sporting this costume. But, then again, looking at the themes and character tones that Waititi decided on for the 2022 movie, the blue-grey-ish one seems like a better fit (except that both the themes and the costume failed to work their charm this time around).
