Over the 12 seasons of the show, the characters of The Big Bang Theory have changed their styles but maintained their aesthetics. However, maintaining their signature fashion was not the most comfortable thing in the show.

Simon Helberg and Mayim Bialik recalled how wearing their character’s style was probably the most uncomfortable thing in the world, often needing assistance from the crew members on the set.

Jim Parson’s 2 Big Bang Theory Co-Stars Hated Their Wardrobes

Chuck Lorre’s The Big Bang Theory is a cultural phenomenon that has showcased numerous scientific concepts and popularised the nerd culture that made sci-fi franchises such as Star Wars, Star Trek, and superhero comic books.

This made the TV series more popular because, at the core of the show, it showcased a group of intellectual friends navigating love, life, and friendship. The wardrobe for each character in the sitcom defined their personalities, adding depth to the storyline of the show.

However, not everyone was comfortable with their style. While Jim Parson’s Sheldon Cooper used to rock comfortable trousers and t-shirts, Simon Helberg and Mayim Bialik had a hard time maintaining their fashion for the sake of the show.

In The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series by Jessica Radloff via Looper, Simon Helberg, who helmed the role of Howard Wolowitz in the show, stated how he regularly needed assistance to wear the ultra-tight jeans and the sharp belt buckles. He said,

And then to get all those sharp belt buckles so close to so many vulnerable parts, plus the tight pants, and the pin on my turtleneck that would jam into my neck… I was always trying to get used to being smothered by my own wardrobe.

But he was not the only cast member who suffered because of a bothersome wardrobe.

Mayim Bialik, known for her portrayal of Amy Farrah Fowler, mentioned that her character did not have a “sense of different seasons.” She said,

I was always sweating because Amy had so many layers on and didn’t really have a sense of different seasons. It was always sweater weather for her, even when everybody else was in short sleeves or tank tops.

Nevertheless, the actors overcame these difficulties and added to their stardom. Moreover, their attire was symbolic, often signaling a change in their mood or temperament.

Jim Parsons Had To Learn Science Jargons To Nail His Role of Sheldon Cooper

The Big Bang Theory often showcased a ton of scientific jargon to showcase the scientific niche with a ton of comedic elements. From quantum mechanics to super-asymmetry, the characters often held conversations that revolved around the intricate concepts of the different branches of science.

Even though the actors were somewhat clueless about the complicated jargon and concepts, they had to convince their viewers. This was quite a difficult task for Jim Parsons because, in the same book via Looper, he recalled that he gave up drinking to give his full focus to perfecting his lines. He said,

It’s not that anything got out of hand, but I knew that there was work ahead, and I wanted to be ready for it.

His co-star, Kaley Cuoco, added that the sitcom series put a ton of pressure on Parson’s shoulder because he had to spend 12 years focusing on the character’s lines, which was a lot to take on.

I can’t imagine the stress I’m sure the show put on him, because there was so much riding on his shoulders and so much to memorize. It was such a specific character that I can kind of see why he needed to put drinking aside. The show was 12 years of intense focus for him. That’s a lot to take on.

While it was difficult to memorize the lines, later it got easier for him because the show focused on his character development, where he had “relationship stuff to talk about.”

Though it was awkward for his character because he might do it “awkwardly,” it was a relief for him because he did not have to focus on the scientific concepts anymore.
