Ezra Miller’s performance as and in The Flash has been hailed by numerous people; some of Hollywood’s most revered names have lauded the actor’s portrayal of the eponymous superhero, including the likes of Tom Cruise, James Gunn, and of course, the man behind the forthcoming spectacle, Andy Muschietti.

Recently, the director even went on to label Miller as the best Flash he’s ever witnessed. But it looks like fans don’t happen to share the same sentiments in the least.

The Flash – Andy Muschietti Raves About Ezra Miller’s Talent

Despite their sordid history of abuse scandals and legal disputes, Ezra Miller‘s depiction of Barry Allen has rendered the director and producers so impressed that nobody seems to be too concerned about any potential negative press.

Andy Muschietti, who serves as The Flash’s director, has time and again doted on Miller, 30, and their gripping delivery in the much-awaited film. In an upcoming episode of The Discourse podcast, when asked about the possibility of a sequel, the Argentine filmmaker made it crystal clear that should the project materialize, nobody would be taking the Justice League star’s place.

Talking about Miller’s rendition of the Scarlet Speedster, Muschietti claimed how no other actor has ever done justice to the character the way the former has, deeming them an irreplaceable gem.

“I don’t think there’s anyone that can play that character as well as they did. The other depictions of the character are great, but this particular vision of the character, they just excelled in doing it. And, as you said, the two Barrys – it feels like a character that was made for them.”

Even Barbara Muschietti, the It director’s producing partner in The Flash, agreed with the latter and saluted Miller for being a “brilliant and the most committed” actor they’ve had the pleasure of working with. “They were absolutely supreme,” he said of the Fantastic Beasts star.

Fans, however, strongly disagree.

Muschietti might be awestruck by Miller’s Flash, but Grant Gustin seems to be the audience’s obvious favorite.

Gustin, 33, who has played the titular superhero for nine lengthy seasons in The CW’s The Flash, ended his decade-long run as Barry Allen just a few days ago. His dedication paired with his performance in the series has been acknowledged by fans and critics alike on more than one occasion. So, when Muschietti said Miller was the best Flash there ever was, people lost their cool completely.

The director’s fondness for his leading star has clearly stirred mutinous feelings among DC fans who believe his admiration is melting into unabashed bias above anything else. But only time will tell whether it’s warranted or not.

The Flash opens in cinemas on June 16, 2023.
