Timothée Chalamet has earned success to a degree to an extent that very few have managed to achieve at the age that he is. Being only 27 years old, he has been a part of a huge number of critically acclaimed films, with the perfect examples being Call Me By Your Name, the Dune film series, Beautiful Boy, and Little Women. Through these, he has showcased just how talented and versatile he is as an actor, having some of the most impressive performances that captivates his audience in every way whatsoever.
On top of this, he is also known for having quite a unique personality, being both extremely kind and quite funny. During an interview after the release of his 2019 film with Greta Gerwig, Little Women, the actor talked about quite an odd and hilarious experience that he had when he was younger, which started with him playing a prank on his mother and ended with her naked, on a balcony, on a cruise ship.
Timothée Chalamet Locked His Mother In A Balcony
Timothée Chalamet was giving an interview on The Ellen Show, where he was talking about his mother and their relationship with each other. When talking about how close they are, he was asked if he was a good kid. Taking a second to think and then respond, the actor explained that he was a good kid, however, he was this way because he had a lot of making up to do. When asked what he meant by this, the actor explained that he was very naughty as a child and put his mother in quite a lot of odd situations, where he had to apologize later on.
“I used to go on these cruise ships with my mom, like when I was eight to twelve years old, we would do cruise ships together and we were pulling into port once and she was getting out of the shower, she was drying herself, and she went into the balcony just to go like Whoo! As we were pulling into port and just to be funny, I locked the door. I just locked the balcony door and pretended to leave the room and just kind of, dancing about. And I though it’d be really funny if I actually left. “
He then went on to share a story to support this. He mentioned that when he was younger, he and his mother would frequently go on cruise ships together. During one such occasion, the actor’s mother was coming out of the bathroom, having just taken a shower, and went into the balcony to revel in the feeling of the sea. Simultaneously, the cruise ship was pulling into port. Thinking it to be a funny prank, the young actor decided to lock his mother on the balcony for a few minutes just to mess with her.
This Quickly Turned Into A Nightmare
Timothée Chalamet then went on to explain his intentions for doing such a thing, stating that when he did this, no one would have actually been able to see his mother at the moment, with the threat only looming in the slightest, and he had a plan that he would tease and mess with his mother on the other side of the door for a few minutes, then open it and let her in. This, however, was unable to happen as after only three minutes of doing this, he realized that he had lost the key card that would open the door. Realizing this horror, he started to cry, being as young as he was.
“I waited like three minutes and I didn’t have my key card after I realized. And we were pulling, our balcony was on the side, she was naked. That’s not like a weird thing though when you’re prepubesent, right? Maybe I shouldn’t have brought it up. But I like ran the length of the ship a couple of times., and was like weeping, and finally got a key card. When I came back in, he had taken there was like a little foyer thing to put her feet, she had covered herself. “
In this state, the actor roamed around the ship trying to find someone who could help him and have a key card that could open the door of his mother. In the meantime, the ship had fully pulled into port, meaning people on land would have been able to see his naked mother, had they simply looked up. He explained that his mother used something to hide herself the best she could until he found someone to open the door for him. When it finally did open, he explained that he wasn’t scolded much as she could see what a bad state he was in due to just how much he was crying.
