Dragon Ball Super has offered the fans several great fights and transformations. After many years, the fans got to see Vegito on the big screen. While Dragon Ball Z introduced the different intergalactic species, Dragon Ball Super introduced gods, angels, and universes. Even though it was action-packed and had several good moments, the mangaka failed to bring justice to a popular character.
Piccolo was Akira Toriyama’s favorite character, but somehow, the mangaka downgraded his abilities in the anime. Tournament of Power saw the Namekian getting eliminated by Universe 4’s Damon. Piccolo was once a great fighter by the mangaka forgot to add his abilities during the fight. The fans spotted it and claimed it to be a grave mistake by Toriyama.
Piccolo Forgot His Own Abilities
Piccolo is one of the strongest fighters among the Z warriors. The Namekian was almost on the same level as the Saiyans until they transformed into Super Saiyans. He had several abilities which even the Saiyans did not have. One of them was to listen to conversations from afar distance. But somehow, he seemed to have forgotten about his abilities during the Tournament of Power. Universe 4’s Damon eliminated him in the most ridiculous.
One of the Reddit posts said, “I’m tired of DBS doing my man Piccolo dirty all the time. You mean Piccolo can hear a conversation from 1000-2000 feet away but can’t hear a tiny bug jumping around in front of his face? It’s funny though, because Piccolo even notes that he can’t believe he couldn’t hear the sound he was making.” Several other people commented on the post and shared their opinions on the fight.
Damon is a bug and eliminated him by constantly hitting him until he fell out of the ring. The Namekian can detect Ki and can hear conversations from afar, yet neither of those abilities worked during his fight. He detected Ki a few times, and all of them were wrong. Then, he could not listen to Damon’s conversation about strategizing his moves. Even the fans were disappointed with the character and blamed Akira Toriyama for downsizing him.
Fans React To Piccolo Getting Ridiculed
The Dragon Ball fans have known Piccolo since the dawn of the franchise. The character has gone through several phases until he becomes a trusted ally of Goku and company. Watching him in such a sorry state during Dragon Ball Super’s Tournament of Power made the fans raise their voices on social media. Countless people commented on Reddit, mentioning how shocking it was to see one of the strongest warriors getting eliminated in the most ridiculous ways.
It is not the first time that Piccolo was ridiculed. Piccolo is known to have a sharp memory yet in Dragon Ball Super: Super Heroes, he forgot something important while fighting against Cell Max. Akira Toriyama and Toyotarou might have milked Piccolo so much that he is forgetting his abilities. With Dragon Ball DAIMA scheduled to release in October 2024, it will be interesting to see how Piccolo is written this time.
