The shonen industry is huge, and One Piece and Bleach are two of its leading faces; it is common for viewers to want to see something different and not just the general shonen anime. Luckily, fall 2023 has an amazing anime lineup, which consists of several other genres, such as Isekai, Vampire Action, and much more. This list comprises several different types of anime that can help you take your mind off the classics for some time.

1. 16bit Sensation: Another Layer

You know the anime is going to be good when the aspect of time travel is involved in the story. The main theme of the series revolves around a young and joyful Meiko Uehara, who aspires to become a bishoujo game developer but, after opening a pack of old retro games, finds himself in the past.

The anime is scheduled for October 5, 2023.

Maomao was abducted from a red-light district and sold to a distant country as a child. Growing up, she was destined to be a worker in the court, but her fate changed when she was able to cure the illness of a royal member through her knowledge of medicine.

3. Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End

You have always seen fantasy series where the end goal is to defeat the demon king. But if you want to know the aftermath, then Frieren is best suited for you.

The story deals with Frieren, a mage who is an elf; she has a vast lifespan and witnesses her party members dying of natural causes after they triumph over the demon lord in a 10-year conquest.

But she could not express her true feelings to them, and now she has embarked on a journey to the resting place of souls, a place far up north where she can say her final goodbye to them. It is set to release later in 2023.

4. The 100 Girlfriends Who, Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You


It is one of the most anticipated anime of the year, not because of the title but due to the change in storyline it brings to the audience. Till now, we were exposed to the harem genre, but this is a step up.

The main character of the series, Rentaro, has a very questionable fate: if he fails to charm his various soulmates, it will lead to their demise. He prayed to God for a girlfriend, but due to his good nature, God gave him 100 girlfriends who really loved him.

The first episode airs on October 8, 2023.

5. Firefighter Daigo: Rescuer in Orange


Daigo was rescued by an unknown firefighter when he was a child, and that incident inspired him to follow in the footsteps of the person who saved him and become a firefighter who would save others.

Now training at Medaka-Ga-Hama Fire Station in Sengoku City, he wants to push his boundaries and achieve his dream.

The story takes place in a world where dragons rule the world, including land, water, and the sky. Those who want to see the world must fight through these high-spirited creatures.

Ragna, who aspires to defeat the dragon, has joined hands with Crimson, who has the same goal, and they both start their journey to an open world.

Ragna Crimson will air its first episode on September 30, 2023.

7. A Returner’s Magic Should be Special


A Returner’s Magic should be Special anime plot that revolves around Desir Herrman, one of the world’s strongest soldiers. He and several other heroes have been in a war for 10+ years with the monsters. As they are about to kill Desir Herrman and others.

Instead of dying, Herman finds himself back in the past to his leisurely days of high school. Understanding that he has gotten a second chance, he is now determined to win this time.

It is set to release in October 2023.

8. SHY

As the countries were about to go to war, a group of influential individuals appeared in each of them and avoided the conflict. These individuals later went on to become the representatives of each country.

Japan is represented by Teru Momijiyama, who is very Shy and does not know how to interact with other people. She, along with several other heroes, is being challenged by existential forces. The anime will be released on October 3, 2023.
