As the film grossed $824.1 million across the globe, Cavill took to social media and shared his reaction to his cameo. Cavill posted an image of himself on Instagram, as a variant of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, with the following caption:

To be safe, I shaved the moustache off for this one. Just the moustache.

Cavill’s words are a nod to his DCEU stint, particularly the maligned production of 2017’s Justice League.

During the infamous reshoots of the movie, Cavill had grown a mustache for his role in Mission: Impossible – Fallout. Since Cavill was contractually obligated to keep the mustache, the Justice League team had to digitally remove it, resulting in one of the worst on-screen appearances of Superman.

Zack Snyder Reacted to Henry Cavill’s MCU Debut With Deadpool & Wolverine

Cavill’s social media reaction to his cameo pays off Deadpool’s comment in the movie, which saw the Merc promise Cavillrine that Marvel will treat him better than their DC counterparts. As a result, it is only natural that Cavill’s former DCEU director Zack Snyder would react to his MCU debut.

During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Snyder was asked about Cavill’s appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine. The filmmaker responded to Cavill’s cameo in the film but admitted that he had yet to watch it. Snyder said:

I haven’t seen it yet, but I did hear about it. Sounds fun.

When Snyder was asked about the film quipping that Cavill was mistreated and criminally underused by the DCEU, Snyder simply grinned in response.

The filmmaker admitted that Cavill was the perfect Superman for him and expressed remorse that he could not do justice to the actor’s popularity as the fan-favorite superhero.

At the same time, Snyder admitted that it would be great to see more of Cavill whether it be in the MCU or DCEU. However, it remains to be seen if Cavill’s cameo leads to future MCU appearances.

Deadpool & Wolverine is playing in theaters across the globe.
