There’s no doubt that the massive success of the Fallout TV show revitalized interest in Bethesda games such as Fallout 4 and Skyrim. Since then, we’ve been hearing rumors that Microsoft is bent upon fast-tracking the next mainline single-player Bethesda game.

After the disaster of Starfield, even fans of the studio are desperately waiting to see what Bethesda has in store for its popular Elder Scrolls and Fallout franchises. However, it seems like Bethesda is in no rush to release new games due to a reason fans must understand.

Bethesda stands as one of the most influential game studios of all time and is well-known for its successful Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and Doom franchises, among others. However, the developers haven’t revisited their popular series in a while, focusing on experimenting with new ideas and worlds such as Starfield. This has caused massive community outrage, with players wondering why exactly Bethesda isn’t rushing to capitalize on its most popular games.

However, it looks like Bethesda doesn’t have any intentions of pumping out another Skyrim or Fallout game to jump on the recent resurgence. In an interview with MrMattyPlays, Bethesda’s Todd Howard returned to calls from the studio’s fans to give more updates on the future of their games. While he’s aware that players are hyped for their next offline game, he states that Bethesda has no intentions of rushing one.

For other Fallout games in the future, you know, obviously I can’t talk about those right now, but I would say rushing through them, or we need to get stuff out that is different than the work we’re doing in 76… We don’t feel like we need to rush any of that

Howard understands the desire among players for a new Bethesda game, but according to him, it takes time to create an experience that captures the attention of players. They’ve learned their lessons from the failure of Starfield and want to take more time to meet player expectations for their future games.

It’s no joke that following up on legendary titles such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4, which defined an entire generation of games and gamers alike. The gaming community needs to give Bethesda time to bring a sequel for these popular series. We don’t want another rushed garbage game; we want the classic Bethesda magic, and that takes time to create.

It’s already been confirmed that Bethesda’s next title will be the highly anticipated The Elder Scrolls 6.

The game has finally entered development after an incredibly long pre-production phase, but there is still not much else known about the sequel yet.

The biggest question among gamers surrounding The Elder Scrolls 6 is when exactly it will be released. During Microsoft’s FTC trial back in June 2023, Xbox Head Phil Spencer revealed that Skyrim‘s successor was still “five plus years away.”

It’s going to be a long while before we learn more about The Elder Scrolls 6, and even longer before we get our hands on the game. Currently, it looks like the game will be released in 2028, at the earliest, but only time will tell.
