Many fans are desperate for Fallout 5, but things look bad. It’s already been confirmed that Bethesda is currently working on Elders Scroll 6. This means we’re quite a few years away from the next entry in the Fallout franchise. While that’s dissapootining, Todd Howard has already revealed the game’s potential setting and location.

Todd Howard Has Already Revealed The Location For Next Fallout Game

The Fallout franchise is as expansive as it is deadly for those who dare reside there. Over the years, we’ve seen Bethesda expand the world of the unique post-apolcatpyc RPG. The series has taken place in various cities and places that have given players a look into what a post-nuclear world would feel like. Although Fallout 5 is far away, players are curious to see where Bethesda will take the series next.

One of the most popular theories among the Fallout community is that the next game would take players back to the New California Republic (NCR). This theory is based on one of the dialogues from Conard Kellog in Fallout 4. Kellogg is a ruthless and highly skilled operative working for the Institute and the Commonwealth in the game. He was born in NCR but left the state at some point.

Another element that leads players to believe we’re definitely going back to NCR in Fallout 5 is the franchise’s TV series. It’s already established that the Fallout series takes place in California. However, for some odd reason, the series never really explored the area too much.

It was later revealed by the series’ producer, Jonathan Nolan, that Todd Howard had set strict guidelines and instructions not to cover certain things. Bethesda is likely saving many aspects of New California Republic for Fallout 5 and wanted to make sure that the television series doesn’t clash with the upcoming game’s story.

The location of a Fallout game is arguably one of its most defining features. Although there’s still no confirmation from Bethesda, they’ve most likely already decided where Fallout 5 will take place. It may be a fully functioning city or community again, but the region has most probably been already decided upon.

When is Fallout 5 Coming Out?

Fallout 5 release date | Steam

Fallout 5’s release date has been a hot topic among gamers. Back in 2022, Howard revealed that the next Fallout game wouldn’t see the light of the day until Bethesda is done working on The Elder Scrolls 6. The next entry in the Elders Scroll franchise is rumored to drop in 2026 at least.

However, now that Fallout’s television series has been a massive hit, many people are hoping that Bethesda will redirect its focus to the next Fallout game to capitalize on the IP’s incredible popularity. With the studio’s current development schedule, the Fallout show’s hype would likely peak and die off before we even get a teaser for Fallout 5.

Based on Bethesda’s typical development, Fallout 5 is expected to be released in 2030. However, with Microsoft in charge, things could still change.
