Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt have come a long way and made a name for themselves all around the world. However, despite being so successful and on heights in their careers, the duo never shared the screen after their 1994 film, Interview With the Vampire. The 1994 gothic horror film was the first and the last time fans saw the superstars together on-screen. While people still discuss the reason behind their distances, many believe that the co-stars did not have a pleasing experience while working on the film.

A few years after its release, Steven Spielberg revealed that he was once in line to direct the movie and wanted Tom Cruise to portray the lead character in the 2008 film. Spielberg shared that he and the Vanilla Sky star have been friends for years.

They had been planning to work together and ended up discussing The Curious Case of Benjamin Button years before their 2002 film, Minority Report. “But nothing quite jelled for either of us,” The Fabelmans director said. The film later went on to David Fincher in 2004, and the Bullet Train star was cast as the lead.

Top Gun: Maverick And Babylon Golden Globes 2023 Nominations

Tom Cruise’s 2022 film Top Gun: Maverick broke records at the box office. The sequel to the 1986 film was equally praised by fans and critics, making its lead star a top contender at the most prestigious award shows. The Outsiders actor was even expected to win an Oscar for his work.

While the film received several nominations and was awarded, Cruise was unable to land a nomination either at Golden Globe Awards or the Academy Awards. And he was unhappy when his alleged nemesis Brad Pitt got nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the 2023 Golden Globes for Babylon, and Cruise wasn’t even considered to be nominated under any category.

Top Gun 2 was nominated for Best Motion Picture and Best Original Song. Sources claimed that The Mummy star was sure he would win the award and even started working on his acceptance speech. It was also reported that the Fight Club star actually snubbed Cruise of his nomination with his dirty politics, as Babylon was a flop and wasn’t considered to be on the same level as Maverick.
