Tom Cruise Nailed A Stunt Sequence in Mission: Impossible – Fallout
The Mission: Impossible film series has always been an important project, especially for Tom Cruise which made him what he is today. When it comes to action sequences, the film has delivered exemplary scenes for fans to enjoy. Not to mention, the actor doing risky stunts to further amplify the gravity of the movies made him quite a respectable personality.
As per IMDB, the actor during the filming of his sixth installment, Mission: Impossible – Fallout showed his insane driving skills that even awed his stunt performers.
To film one of the scenes, which involved the actor driving the $117K BMW M5 on the streets of Paris and eventually making the 180-degree turn. The crew took filmed four shots and out of that, three takes were perfect.
For the tricky part, the actor had to “turn the steering wheel, step on the clutch and put the car into first gear in the air” in the last 10 degrees of the turn which was difficult to execute. What shocked the crew and stunt drivers was that he perfectly executed three takes which takes years of experience to perform the sequence even for stunt drivers.
However, if one would think that he just luckily executed those stunts, they need to reconsider their thoughts as he has trained himself for his actions.
Tom Cruise Talked About Performing His Stunts in Movies!
The actor has always been doing his own stunts instead of using a stunt double which is quite uncommon in the acting industry. During an interview with Graham Norton, he explained that taking risks is something he was quite accustomed to since his childhood.
He shared his childhood story of doing “flips off the house into the snow.” As he started growing older, he “always loved fast cars, motorcycles, hiking, and climbing.”
Stating about doing his stunts, he shared,
“I feel that [when acting] you’re bringing everything, you know, physically and emotionally, to a character in a story. I’ve trained for 30 years doing [stunts], and it allows us to put cameras where you are normally not able to.”
It is really a commendable thing to perform his own stunts which further adds his essence to the character. This is one of the reasons why Cruise is still a significant personality in Hollywood.
