Leah Remini is an American actress who was a very dear friend to Tom Cruise at a point in her life. Alongside being an actress, Remini is also an author known for her 2015 memoir Troublemaker. Remini also had another special connection to Cruise, one which involved a highly controversial church!
Both actors were members of the Church of Scientology but Leah Remini decided to turn her back to the religionist group in the mid-2010s. Mentioning Tom Cruise’s odd behavior at a dinner party, Remini mentioned in her memoir that she was done playing hide-and-seek with the actor.
Tom Cruise Was Behaving Pretty Odd At a Dinner Party
Well, Tom Cruise has been known for his antics. Some are playful while some are downright uncomfortable and people cannot seem to figure out which is which. In her 2015 memoir titled Troublemaker, Leah Remini recalled the time she was invited to a dinner party at Cruise’s California home.
Her memoir describes her journey into the Church of Scientology, how she got out and the several famous actors that she met along the way. Talking about the time she was invited to Cruise’s dinner party, Leah Remini revealed that Cruise insisted that they play hide-and-seek (via US Weekly) in the 7000-acre compound that Cruise had to his name. Tom Cruise reportedly told Remini that she was “it” and ran off into the distance!
In response, Remini pulled her husband Angelo Pagan aside and told him that she was not “it” and would not be playing any game of hide-and-seek. Although it is not revealed who won the game, Tom Cruise seems to have been declared the winner.
When Tom Cruise Was Trolled For A Romantic Gesture
This isn’t the first time that Cruise has behaved oddly for the world. Back in 2005, the actor appeared in an interview on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Madly in love with his then-lover Katie Holmes, the actor jumped onto Winfrey’s couch, while professing his love to Katie Holmes.
The action stirred quite a lot of controversy but at that time, visionary director Steven Spielberg had stood alongside the Top Gun actor. In an interview on Newsweek (via CNN), Spielberg revealed that he was angry not at Cruise but at the press for making such a big deal out of nothing.
“Not at Tom, but at the press for making such a big deal out of a kind of small thing. Tom lost his cool because he was deliriously happy, and now he was being punished for his public display of happiness,”
Tom Cruise has quietened down about his personal life over the years and doesn’t publicly speak about his involvement with the Church of Scientology. With some reports claiming Cruise exited the Church, other speculations differ.
