Hence, it was no surprise that he could immediately spew wisdom to the new generation of actors and test them on their skills when he made an appearance on The Graham Norton Show. Talking about voice acting, Hanks took the help of MCU star Tom Holland to perform an acting exercise live on the show.

I think they are gleeful in making you ring every possible meaning from a line. Where you have a very simple cue and a very simple line. And the cue might be, ‘Would you like some more coffee?’ And the line you have to say is, ‘Coffee, you think I want more coffee? Boy, do I need more coffee?’

While Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland took a second to get into the zone, Hanks and Holland made a great duo bouncing off of each other while repeating the same lines. Holland seemed to be tired by the end of the exercise, jokingly asking Tom Hanks to stop.

While Tom Hanks stole the world’s heart with his role as the cowboy toy Woody in Pixar’s animated franchise Toy Story, the actor revealed that he was not a huge fan of the recording process. Hanks mentioned on The Graham Norton Show that he usually wished for the sessions to get over soon the moment he started them as he was usually tired of them.

Hanks played Woody for all four films of the franchise, with Toy Story 3 and Toy Story 4 even winning the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. The actor spoke about the sessions,

I have never begun a recording session without wishing it was already over. Because, understand, Woody is clenched all the time. He’s clenched. There’s something he’s gotta explain, or, ‘Come on, guys! Or ‘No, no, no, no, look out, look out, look out! This way, this way.’ It’s all that and you can’t move, the microphone is right there, and you have to be like this.

The actor went on to demonstrate how he would perform without moving away from the microphone. He also went on to express his frustration with recording the grunts and sighs of the character, which would usually be scheduled at the end of the sessions. Hanks will be returning to the recording booth in Toy Story 5.
