With the Actors’ Strike finally over, actors are free to speak about their ongoing or upcoming projects. Well, Marvel star Tom Hiddleston wasted no time in doing so and grabbed the opportunity with both hands. Making an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the actor spoke at length about the latest season of Loki. He also hinted at retirement during the interview.
During the discussion, Hiddleston delved into the newest entry in the Loki franchise. The actor even talked about what happened in the recently aired finale. Fallon, the ever-curious host, pushed the actor to share insights on the show now that he is allowed to do that.
Tom Hiddleston Hints At His MCU Retirement
During the interview, Tom Hiddleston revealed that Loki Season 2 serves as the storyline’s ending in both the first and second seasons. Besides, it also serves as a conclusion to six films, 12 episodes, and a span of 14 years in his life in the MCU. Having been cast at the age of 29, he reflected on his journey. Hiddleston asserted that the finale resonates through all the iterations of Loki he has played to date.
Hiddleston told Jimmy Fallon:
“If you haven’t seen it, I will not spoil it for you but I will say this, it all comes full circle. It’s the conclusion of season two. It’s also the conclusion to seasons one and two. It’s also the conclusion to six films and 12 episodes and 14 years of my life. I was 29 when I was cast, I’m 42 now. it’s been a journey. I do think in the finale there are echoes and resonances of every version of Loki that I’ve played.”
Tom Hiddleston also discussed the final episode, which is titled Glorious Purpose, recalling a moment in the first Avengers film where his character goes to Earth and says to Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury, “I’m Loki of Asgard. I’m burdened with glorious purpose.” In that scene, Loki can be seen as arrogant and determined to conquer the world.
Will There Be a Loki Season 3?
Fans were previously eagerly anticipating a third season and a potential reunion between Loki and Thor. Recently, head writer Eric Martin spoke about the potential development of Season 3.
Eric Martin told Cinema Blend:
“We approached this as like two halves of a book. Season one, first half. Season two, we close the book on Loki and the TVA. Where it goes beyond that, I don’t know. I just wanted to tell a full and complete story across those two seasons.”
It seems that the series will conclude after two seasons, given that Loki has sacrificed himself for the greater good. According to the writer, the chances of Loki embarking on more adventures are slim, meaning the hope for a reunion between Thor and Loki might never happen.
