Tom Hiddleston’s Loki ended with an epic finale episode of Season 2 which has perfectly set up the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the fate of the multiverse safe in the hands of Loki, there seems to be a way the two brothers can reunite.
With Loki fulfilling his name by becoming the God of Stories, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor could become Rune King Thor and come face to face against Loki in the MCU. Although this theory is quite bold, Marvel can indeed make it happen…if they want to see the multiverse collapse again.
How Thor Became Rune King Thor
Before we talk about how Thor can reunite with Loki once again, the story of how Thor becomes Rune King Thor is more important. In Marvel Comics, Loki destroys Asgard after Odin’s death and creates another Mjolnir much like Thor’s.
Realizing that to defeat Loki, Thor has to use the Odin force, the God of Thunder goes off to search for the higher power. During his journey, Thor goes to the Well of Mimir where he sacrifices both of his eyes to gain knowledge (Odin only sacrificed one of his eyes). Having the ability to see in the past, Thor realizes that the prophecy of Ragnarok is a loop and will repeat infinite times. Wanting to break this loop, Thor hangs himself from a tree (which Odin did too) and literally dies and wakes up in Hel.
In Hel, Thor encounters Hela who tries to kill him but is saved by the Odin force. Once he wakes up, Thor is reincarnated as Rune King Thor with astonishing powers capable of taking on anyone. If the MCU would allow this to happen in Thor 5, there is a very high possibility that Thor can reunite with his brother Loki.

*Major Spoilers For Loki Season 2*
And now comes the interesting part. At the end of Loki Season 2, Tom Hiddleton’s character steps up the throne with the multiverse in the palm of his hands. Wanting to save the multiverse, the World Tree or Yggdrasil forms from Loki’s hands with each branch representing a multiverse.
Becoming the God of Stories, Tom Hiddleston‘s anti-hero became the protector of the multiverse with Yggdrasil. When Thor becomes Rune King Thor, the comics depict him going to Yggdrasil and tearing the World Tree apart. And with the MCU following in that order, Thor (or Rune King Thor) could reunite with his brother for a final time.
Although this theory is quite interesting and destructive in nature, fans would love to see Chris Hemsworth’s Thor gaining unimaginable power and reuniting with Tom Hiddleston’s Loki for a final embrace before the multiverse collapses or restarts.
