Tom Holland got his big break in Hollywood when he starred as the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite being a child actor, he wasn’t well known until he became a Marvel star. Now among the most globally recognized actors, he has the potential to become the next Tom Cruise of Hollywood.
However, even though fans acknowledge that he is a wonderful actor, they feel he cannot become as successful as he deserves if he keeps continuing with the $407 million Mark Wahlberg’s Uncharted franchise. Since Holland is already 27 and if he continues with the live-action franchise, it is highly possible that he will miss out on critical lead roles that will haunt his career forever.

Fans of the Marvel star Tom Holland appear to be seriously concerned about him. The reason is him starring in the $407 million Mark Wahlberg franchise. While the first movie did well at the box office and received positive reviews from fans, it wasn’t as successful as one had hoped for. Now with a second live-action movie potentially in the works (via The Direct), fans expressed their concerns over Holland resuming his character of Nathan Drake and the impact it will have on his career.
Holland is undoubtedly an exceptional actor but if he continues on this path of ‘franchises’, fans feel he might be wasting his real potential and have his chance of working with ‘real directors’ in lead roles taken away forever for he is already 27 years old.
Although Tom Cruise is now known best due to his Mission: Impossible franchise, his success and level of fame have been a culmination of diverse filmography and roles across different genes, which is something Holland lacks. Furthermore, Cruise has already proven he is a genius actor thanks to his work with acclaimed directors, which Holland has yet to do.
Even though it might be too early to compare Holland with somebody as established as Cruise, fans feel he has the potential to be the next Tom Cruise but seems to be wasting his potential by making the wrong career choices when he should be working towards diversifying his range and working with acclaimed directors.
Fans Feel Tom Holland Is Making The Wrong Career Choices
Tom Holland may not have as glamourous a filmography as his other Marvel co-stars, but he has proven his acting prowess in every role he has done. Even though his projects may turn out bad or flop, he has received immense praise for each and every role.
And so despite being a good actor, fans feel Holland seems to be ruining his potential by making the wrong career choices. Many of his fans even took to X, to express their concerns.
He needs to work with a real director rather than his Oscar bait movie being done by the Russo brothers. Nolan… cast this man as your lead!

It's really sad, cause despite the fact that I am not the biggest fan of his Spider-Man movies, I can see him acting his ass off with the material he has. I just don't think he's given much to work with

An auteur needs to cast Holland. He has it. We all know he does. Nolan would be a great choice. Also curious to see what Linklater, Haynes, Gerwig, or Coppola would do with him.

Despite such critical comments, many expressed that the Marvel star has a long way to go for doing action franchises in his youth seem to be the best for him, since he can focus on more serious roles when he is older.
