Much has been said about Tom Holland’s 4th Spider-Man movie and about its contents, despite the fact that the studios by themselves have so far been utterly mum about it. Fans will know that 2021’s No from Home left the web-slinging hero at a disastrous turn, with most of his allies having forgotten his identity completely.

The tight-lippedness that both Sony and Marvel has employed with respect to Spider-Man 4 means that fans are still at a loss about what the movie might look like, let alone the characters who will be seen at the forefront. For the time being, however, it appears that fans might have to create excitement for the project via a single piece of information.

It comes in the form of the fact that Spider-Man 4 is set to include the same flowing, swinging type of web-slinging that older fans once fell in love with after watching Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man

When Tobey Maguire first showed up as Spider-Man in the 2002 movie, nobody expected it to become the kind of superhit that it did become. The movie made Sony Pictures more than $820 million worthwhile and spanned an extremely successful trilogy that resulted in an overall gross of over $2.5 billion. (The Numbers)

The reasons were plenty. Tobey Maguire’s boyish charm resulted in the ideal neighborhood superhero, and the series gave fans a range of memorable characters, apart from quality narrations. However, one major aspect of the series was the way in which Spider-Man would be seen slinging around from building to building.

Maguire’s rendition of the superhero has been the only one who slung around in the classic swinging fashion, which led to slight curls in stomachs, and became an iconic image in itself. Both Tom Holland’s and Andrew Garfield’s versions of the characters simply do not swing the same way.

However, according to a Twitter source, that is set to change, and fans will see Tom Holland swinging the same iconic way in Spider-Man 4. At a time when updates about upcoming project have been far and few, the news comes as some respite for fans, who are bound to be delighted.

Rumors have stated a plethora of villains as candidates to be featured in the upcoming movie. Kingpin has been referenced, while a return of past characters, even in the form of Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio, has also been cited. Of course, while the ideal situation would be a potential meeting of Tom Hardy’s Venom and Holland’s Spider-Man, there has been nothing official to suggest the same.

At the same time, Sony chairman Tom Rothman had stated earlier that Spider-Man 4 will be a significant event, which might as well suggest that Marvel is planning to pull out another surprise, this time in collaboration with Sony. While the possibilities remain endless, it currently seems as if there are only a few things that can be taken for granted with respect to Spider-Man 4.

The return of Tom Holland as the titular character is the first thing. The return of the classic web-slinging mannerism is the other thing. Everything else remains up in the air.

All of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man movies thus far can be watched on Disney+.
