It’s not a secret that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures plan to bring Spider-Man 4 starring Tom Holland. However, due to the recently concluded writers’ strike, the development of the fourth solo Spidey MCU film is yet to progress any further from the very early stages of development. It’s not going to hit the theaters anytime soon.
However, fans who can’t wait to see Holland as Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe again might not have to wait very long, with an insider suggesting he’s in line to tag along with Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson in Deadpool 3, all thanks to the Time Variance Authority.
How Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Could End up Featuring in Deadpool 3
The Time Variance Authority, an organization created by He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors), is tasked to preserve the Sacred Timeline and prevent Multiversal conflicts.
So far, Marvel fans have only seen the TVA’s detailed background in the television series Loki, but now it seems Deadpool 3 writers are prepared to delve deeper into it.
According to insider MyTimeToShineHello, Ryan Reynolds‘ movie will be centered around the TVA “picking up the prime versions of each hero to create a multiversal army to fight the Kangs.” In Tom Hiddleston-led Loki, Sylvie Laufeydottir kills the TVA mastermind, resulting in the return of his Kang variants.
The insider further added that the TVA picks Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine to recruit but he’s not fully on board. In a separate post, MyTimeToShineHello clarified that the ‘prime’ version of Spider-Man is Tom Holland, teasing his return as Peter Parker on the big screen.
We don’t even know in what capacity Holland would feature in Deadpool 3, if at all, but the suggestion of the TVA considering his Web-Head as the best version is already dividing Marvel fans.
What Tom Holland Said About Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool 3
Holland, who most recently impressed in Apple TV+’s The Crowded Room, shared his thoughts on Deadpool 3 stars Reynolds and Jackman, during the promotion of the show.
He also shed light on stunt coordinator and second unit director George Cottle, who worked with him in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The Englishman told Forbes:
“Yeah, of course I have. I’m a big fan of both of those guys. I’m sure the film is going to be fantastic. I know they have George Cottle (Jr.) on their side right now as their stunt coordinator and second unit director. You couldn’t ask for a better guy. So I’m very excited for the film. I wish them all the best and I can’t wait to see those two go at it.”
If the plot of Deadpool 3, which is scheduled to release in the first half of 2024, is indeed going in the reported direction, the rumor mill is unlikely to just stop at Holland’s Spider-Man. Expect reports and subsequent debates on more surprising characters and cameos.
