These celebrities dabble in different types of shows, be it comedy, action, drama, or even fantasy. With their wide range of talents, it is undeniable that they managed to capture the audience’s hearts. Many have been called but few were chosen, and here are our top picks for celebrities of 2021!
Anya Taylor-Joy
Anya Taylor-Joy graced our screens with her prodigy character from the critically-acclaimed Netflix show, The Queen’s Gambit. Before she was known as Beth Harmon, she was Emma Woodhouse from the Jane Austen film adaptation of Emma. She also appeared in the popular BBC series Peaky Blinders as Gina Gray. And recently, she starred as Sandy in the psychological film Last Night in Soho.
With all these roles under her belt, it is safe to say that Taylor-Joy is a versatile actress. She conveys her characters in an enigmatic yet glamorous way. Certainly, she will have more projects in the coming years.
Lily James
The Cinderella actress has always had that charm and appeal like a Disney royalty princess. She’s done a myriad of lead roles that showcased her wide range of talents, including singing. From Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! to Baby Driver, one can say she’s a great singer.
James also starred in the Netflix adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s Rebecca where she portrayed the role of the second Mrs. de Winter. From gothic drama to musical comedy and even action films, James can do it all.
Ben Barnes
Everyone knows him as Prince Caspian from The Chronicles of Narnia, or Dorian Gray from The Picture of Dorian Gray. But surely, his role as Billy Russo from The Punisher was his most recent successful project.
He also starred in the Netflix adaptation of Shadow and Bone where he portrayed General Kirigan or “The Darkling”. Fans were quite delighted to see Barnes involve himself in the fantasy genre. Nonetheless, he did a great job at playing the villain.
Florence Pugh
Florence Pugh has had several projects for the past few years which slowly gained her popularity. She starred in the horror film Midsommar, the live adaptation of the classic novel Little Women, and then there’s Lady Macbeth.
This year, she joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Yelena Belova from Black Widow. Pugh also appeared in Disney’s Hawkeye which certainly means we’ll get to see the character more often.
Elizabeth Olsen
Elizabeth Olsen is definitely the star of the year! Her portrayal of Wanda Maximoff a.k.a. Scarlet Witch in WandaVision broke all records. She managed to level up Maximoff’s minor character role into an A-list Avenger.
Recently, the show garnered several awards such as MTV Movie & TV Awards for Best Show. Olsen also received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination. The actress managed to make a name for herself and not just “one of the Olsen siblings”.
