The 2022 indie hit Trombone Champ is making its way onto Nintendo Switch after a surprise announcement at the most recent Nintendo Direct. The brass band simulator also comes to the system today and has four-player co-op meaning you can waste no time in assembling the world’s worst jazz group.

Trombone Champ was a sleeper hit on PC and made the rounds on the internet with some poorly played covers of The Blue Danube Waltz, Through the Fire and Flames and my personal favourite One-Winged Angel from Final Fantasy VII. Now on the Switch who knows what chaos will come using the Nintendo joy-con as an imaginary trombone

Along with a gameplay trailer, the Nintendo Switch reveal dived into what we’ll see in the game:

“Do you have what it takes to become the Trombone Champ? Trombone Champ allows you to play over 45 songs, which include anthems, marches, classical pieces, electronic music, folk classics, and more. You can also play with up to four players in local multiplayer mode!

“As you play the game, you can find collectible cards and interact with hidden characters, which allow you to unlock new characters, trombones, trombone sounds, and more. Can you unlock all of the game’s mysteries?”

The Nintendo Switch version of the game also comes with a new control scheme, allowing you to utilise the Joy-Con controllers’ motion or IR sensors to control your trombone pitch. The biggest feature coming to the game is the co-op mode that will allow you and three other players to “rock” out in the same space while you horribly cover classic songs on a digital trombone.
