Though it has been years since Avengers: Endgame first hit the big screens, fans aren’t done talking about it just yet. To be more precise, fans aren’t done digging about Robert Downey Jr.‘s Tony Stark just yet. And here is a brand new question for the makers about the Iron Man star from one of the most stunning scenes in the movie.

Just to be clear, this stunning scene isn’t one of the brutal fight scenes or anywhere near. In fact, the scene in question is actually one of the very first ones in the film, where Stark and Nebula find themselves close to death while stranded in their spaceship in the middle of nowhere. In that scene, Downey looks extraordinarily malnourished, which caused fans to wonder if he had actually starved himself for shooting it.

The answer? A big NO. As per Insider, co-director Joe Russo revealed during a watch party with ComicBook.com in 2020 that instead of prepping the Sherlock Holmes star for the scene, the visual effects artists took it upon themselves to make his character look emaciated and like he was actually stranded in space.

This not only made the next scene where Downey’s character meets Evans’ character after landing a harrowing one but also carried out the intended effect of raising suspicion among viewers of whether Iron Man could die early in the movie rather perfectly.

Robert Downey Jr.’s most celebrated character was killed off in the most epic way at the end of Avengers: Endgame. The ending provided his on-screen character with the perfect redemption arc. While the Sherlock Holmes star is apparently done with MCU, fans aren’t done yet.

Previously it was also speculated by fans that he could make an appearance in Black Widow, which he evidently did not. Since then many have been hoping that he could come back as an alternate version of himself from one of the many multiverses. While these are all fan theories and speculations, anything is possible since it is the Marvel Cinematic Universe we are talking about.

Avengers: Endgame can be streamed on Disney+.
