Twilight was the highlight of cinema back in 2008 – no contest to that – and its box office success, as well as its global phenomenon, was enough proof that it changed the world of pop culture. If director Catherine Hardwicke would revive the franchise, she wants Jenna Ortega and Jacob Elordi in.
Based on Stephenie Meyer’s popular fantasy novel, Twilight follows the story of Edward Cullen and Bella Swan in an extraordinary tale of vampires, werewolves, and the dangers of falling in love with each other. The final installment premiered in 2012, and there’s been enough time passed for a much-needed refresher.
Twilight Reboot With Jenna Ortega Might Happen In The Future
During her appearance on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, director Catherine Hardwicke expressed interest in giving Twilight another shot in a different setting and direction. She joked:
“For me, it would be fun to do Twilight in outer space. I’d be happy, I’d be ecstatic to do that. Something totally different.”
While filming a Twilight movie in outer space sounds like wishful thinking, a more realistic question would be its new cast. The host promptly asked, “Is there anyone in the new crop today? Is Jacob Elordi Edward Cullen today? Is Jenna Ortega…” Hardwicke said for both Elordi and Ortega:
“That would be perfect. I mean, he’s amazing. He probably would be Edward today. I do think there’s a lot of really cool young actors. Of course, you just mentioned Jenna Ortega, she’s amazing.”
While the Twilight reboot is yet to be confirmed, in addition to the reports of an upcoming TV series, a popular fan casting for Edward Cullen other than Jacob Elordi is Cobra Kai star, Tanner Buchanan. The actor has unique features that resemble the book description of the famed vampire – from his tantalizing eyes down to his sharp jaw.
He has also done a couple of romance thrillers in the past such as Sinister Seduction and He’s All That, so he’s definitely got some experience. More importantly, he doesn’t have a bad police record like Elordi.
Jacob Elordi Allegedly Assaulted A Radio Producer
The Daily Telegraph via Variety reported that Euphoria actor Jacob Elordi had an altercation with The Kyle & Jackie O Show producer Joshua Fox at a hotel in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.
As per the account of Fox, he asked the actor if he could have some of his bathwater for Jackie O for her birthday (a reference to his movie Saltburn). Elordi told him to stop filming and delete the video. The radio producer later explained:
“I refuse to because I feel uncomfortable right now and this is the only evidence, and then Jacob kind of just flips, and he kind of pushes me against the wall, and his hands are on my throat.”
The New South Wales Police is currently investigating the incident. This definitely leaves a bad impression after the actor has been praised for his critical works on Priscilla and Saltburn.
