The highly anticipated video game sequel Alan Wake 2 has been in development for more than a decade, and fans of the original just can’t wait anymore. Developer Remedy promised the follow-up to 2010’s cult classic thriller Alan Wake with the game’s infamous final words, “It’s not a lake; it’s an ocean.”

Alan Wake 2 is slated for release on October 17, making it absolutely perfect for the 2023 Halloween season. It will be released for the current-gen consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X/S as well as PC through the Epic Games Store. Earlier this year in March, Remedy confirmed that all of the game’s content will soon be “in place” and it is completely “playable” all the way through, but like every anticipated release in these times, there is always that one person on Twitter who has to ruin it for everybody by being extremely rude with their opinion.

Fans of the original game have been asking for Alan Wake 2 for quite some time now. The sequel was first revealed about two years ago, in December 2021, and the reveal trailer featured Ilkka Villi and Matthew Poretta, the titular character’s physical and voice actors, respectively, providing further details about the terrifying survival-horror setting of the sequel. A second playable character, FBI agent Saga Anderson, was revealed in a trailer during the 2023 PlayStation Showcase.

The immeasurable excitement of fans of Alan Wake 2 can be realized through the endless in-depth analysis that they have carried out with just one major trailer, looking for any clues that could provide further information about the sequel. With countless theories all across the internet, gamers have been diving deep into different aspects of Remedy’s upcoming game, such as Alan Wake scouting Cauldron Lake to find Alice. The new playable character Saga Anderson will be portrayed and voiced by actress Melanie Liburd, as she feels the sinister unease lurking in the town of Bright Falls, and the game will give players the option to switch between her and the titular character throughout.

The Pure Class of Alan Wake 2 and its Communications Director

Alan Wake 2 Features Two Playable Characters

Remedy’s Communications Director, Thomas Puha, has been quite conversational with fans about Alan Wake 2 on Twitter, and most recently, he talked about some technical limitations of the game on the Xbox Series S and how it’s not that simple to “just optimize” a finished product. He said that one has to consider all of the technicalities “from the beginning of development,” but there was one Twitter user who thought he would sound clever by being extremely rude with his reply.

A veteran Navy Corpsman called WallyWorld snapped at Puha by saying that he basically shouldn’t be talking about any technical aspects of the game when his “background is just PR,” continuing that Puha’s comment was equivalent to a “janitor” who calls himself a “surgeon” just because he works “at a hospital.”

The Alan Wake 2 communications director showed pure class with his own reply to the mean comment, thanking WallyWorld for his “service” to his country and only calling his statement “short-sighted.” The game’s Twitter community shortly showed up in Puha’s support, with one user calling WallyWorld’s comment “cringe” while another saying that they’re “sure” Puha “knows what he’s talking about.” The love and respect that the gaming community holds for Remedy is wholesome, and this sense of unity against any kind of negativity makes us even more excited for the anticipated sequel.
