As of October 27th, UFC 5 has officially been released, but sadly, it has already begun to receive a lot of negative responses from gamers. The reason behind these negative responses is the lack of characters on the roster, such as Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, Bryce Mitchel, Yan Xiaonan, and many more.

Since its release, Electronic Arts (EA) has already begun to respond to players as it attempts to explain why there is a lack of characters in UFC 5 and when more will be coming. So far, there is a lot of information to go through and a lot of excuses, but EA does seem to be owning this error on their part.

The Backlash Against a Lack of Characters like Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua In UFC 5

UFC 5 releases a lacklustre roster, and some major names like Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are nowhere to be found.

For many fans of UFC, it is always a fun and unique experience to be able to play these games and use your favourite fighter. Unfortunately, with the lack of characters within UFC 5, some gamers will have to make do with their second favourite fighter, if they have one.

To be clear, there is no lack of characters when it comes to UFC 5, as there are numerous options from all of the different weight categories players can choose from. However, those who were looking forward to playing as characters like Tyson Fury will sadly have to wait until a potential update further down the road.

Understandably, this has caused a large amount of the game’s fan base to become quite upset, as usually with a game like UFC 5, there the title before it are nearly exactly the same, but with a few less quality of life changes, such as UFC 4.

This has left many gamers in a rather angry state, as usually when you buy a new game, you would at least expect more characters to play within the game itself. Especially with a sport like UFC, which has newcomers and some big names.

For now, though, this has left a negative response for gamers, as many have already begun to make complaints towards EA, to which it has responded with some rather reasonable reasons as to why the game is in the state it is in.

What Has EA Said Regarding The Lackluster Roster in UFC 5?

Gamers are annoyed at UFC 5‘s terrible roster, but EA quickly responds to the backlash.

Since the game’s release, EA has received a lot of negative comments from gamers asking why UFC 5 is missing some of its iconic members like Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, and Bryce Mitchel. So far, EA has heard these complaints and has already begun explaining why the game is the way it is.

The main reason UFC 5 has been released with such a lackluster roster is due to the fact that EA didn’t want to abandon its services for UFC 4, during the new game’s development. Since beginning the development of UFC 5, EA has been in the process of releasing content for UFC 4.

This meant that EA had to make the decision to either stop releasing content for UFC 4 and focus on creating content for UFC 5, or continue to make content for both games simultaneously. EA decided it would carry on creating content for both games, which is what led to the lack of characters in UFC 5.

Until July 2023, UFC 4 was still receiving content updates from EA to ensure that players did not feel abandoned, while waiting for the new game to release. This meant that UFC 5 would sadly have to release with fewer characters, but every month starting in December, there will be new characters released to the game to fill in the blanks that players are already so angry about.

Although EA has explained why they have made this decision, some gamers are still outraged over UFC 5, and they hope to see some names like Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury show up in future updates.
