Conor McGregor is an extremely loved and respected MMA fighter. While some may know him for his upcoming appearance in Jake Gyllenhall’s film, Road House, he has made a name for himself while fighting in the UFC, being a Featherweight and Lightweight Champion.
It is because of how loved and successful he is, that fans are distraught at the recently revealed lineup for the UFC 300.
While Dana White announced that McGregor will not be fighting until November this year, fans were hoping to persuade him through their support for the former champ. This, unfortunately, did not end up being the case as the fighters for the Main Event have been announced and McGregor’s name being missing is not a good sign.
The Main UFC 300 Event Announcement Has Left Fans Disappointed
Dana White, the President of the UFC, recently took to X to announce the highly-anticipated lineup for the UFC 300 Main Event. The businessman has revealed that the first person who will be a part of this fight will be Alex Pereira, the first champion in both the Middleweight and Light-Heavyweight divisions. He will be competing with Jamahal Hill, who is the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion.
Unfortunately for the UFC, fans were severely underwhelmed by this announcement, with a majority of them thinking this line up to not worthy of the high Main Event stature.

Some fans referred to it as the worst UFC event to date, adding that no one wants to see a fight like this. Comparing this to the standard set by UFC 100, and UFC 200, fans found this line-up to be a huge let-down.
Conor McGregor’s Name Is Missing From The Announcement
The cherry on top of the unfortunate line-up for the UFC 300 is the fact that Conor McGregor’s name is nowhere in sight. While fans were hoping to change Dana White’s mind about his next fighting in November, it would seem that their efforts were in vain.
What makes this all the worse, is the fact that Ariel Helwani, the MMA Hour host, revealed on the Bill Simmons podcast, that the reason for his lack of involvement is alleged internal bureaucracy.
“Yeah so McGregor is not going to be on 300, and you know the crazy thing about this, he’s ready to go, he’s healthy, he wants to be on 300. All this could have been avoided if they just put him on 300 but there’s multiple reasons why they don’t want to put him on 300.”
“Number one, they think that 300, on its own, UFC 300 with these fights is going to sell a million plus pay-per-views. So they think okay if we save Conor for this summer now we get two bites at that apple. A million plus buys this summer, June 29th is the current working date and a million plus buys with UFC 300, so we don’t need Conor to elevate 300.”
Helwani started by confirming that McGregor will not be a part of the UFC 300. He then added that the fact that the boxer is ready to compete and is in perfect shape makes the entire situation even more unpleasant. The entire situation has left a foul taste in the mouths of UFC fans.
