While Marie fought the prying eyes of those who perceived her as a liar, the actress’ eyes did the talking and won over the hearts of the viewers. But that is unlikely going to be the case in Dever’s next project, as the Golden Globes nominee is reportedly all set to portray a very divisive character in The Last of Us Season 2 who is viewed as fan favorite Bella Ramsey’s rival.

The zombie television drama starring Pedro Pascal as Joel Miller – who after witnessing the death of his young daughter finds himself guardian to Bella Ramsey’s Ellie in a post-apocalyptic world – attracted an audience of more than 8 million for the series finale, titled Look for the Light (via Variety).

Fans have been waiting since the end of Episode 9 for an update of Season 2, which is scheduled to premiere in 2025. However, the WGA strike, which has been concluded now, put plans for a second season on hold for a while. But before the deadline, co-showrunner Craig Mazin managed to submit one script for Season 2, as well as material for key personnel so they could start scouting, as per LA Times.

Now it seems his scouting for Season 2 has reached a crucial juncture, with The InSneider reporting that Kaitlyn Dever is in talks to play Abby Anderson.

This is an interesting development considering that Dever was once in the running to portray Ellie, before eventually losing the part to the Game of Thrones talent. Now, she’s positioned to portray Ellie’s rival.
