Final Fantasy 9 Remake was first rumored earlier this year in July when an industry insider Jeff Grubb clarified that while he had mentioned that the remake rumors were true, nothing else about the remake was known back then and those reported were incorrect.

The leaks about the Summer 2024 plans for the project may have changed by now, as per the updated claims. As for the Final Fantasy 10 Remake project, the team behind it is said to have just started taking shape. For the moment, Square Enix is regularly updating Final Fantasy 16 with performance fixes and new content for the game, like the addition of a Leaderboard to the title’s Arcade mode.

Producer Naoki Yoshida also revealed a couple of months back that a PC port of Final Fantasy 16 is under development but isn’t scheduled for a release any time soon.

Square Enix Testing Final Fantasy Ports on Switch and PlayStation 5 DevKits

Final Fantasy 7 Remake could be a launch game on two upcoming consoles.

As for the rest of the rumors from the franchise, Square Enix is also said to be testing Final Fantasy 7 Remake on a Switch 2 DevKit and the title reportedly “looks and runs like a PS5 game” on the DevKit. This could lead to the title being a launch game whenever Switch 2 does launch.

Apart from new Final Fantasy Remake projects, Square Enix is also rumored to be testing the same title on a PlayStation 5 DevKit, which most likely might be the Pro version of the console, although the leaker added that he may wrong.

For the moment, franchise fans can look forward to the upcoming fifth expansion for Final Fantasy 14, titled Dawntrail. The title is already around 13 years old, and the upcoming expansion will reportedly bring about a major graphical update.

The team is said to be working on a complete overhaul that will see the game’s lighting, textures, object density, and the weather effect improve drastically. The required specs to run the game post the update might also get updated, although most modern systems should still be able to run it fine.

Recently, a player was reported to have completed all 2751 achievements in Final Fantasy 14. While the player’s name was not revealed to respect their privacy, some of the achievements included 20,0000 hoards, 3000 victories in Frontline, 5000 victories in Crystaline Conflict or The Feast, and a skyward score of 500,000, which was posted on Reddit in detail.

Square Enix might still release other projects before Final Fantasy 9 gets a remake released. A Final Fantasy 16 crossover is also coming to Final Fantasy 14, which was announced with a brilliant trailer last month. The crossover is bound to bring together heroes from both titles, facing epic battles.

There’s no official date for the collaboration but fans are already excited about the inclusion of a new mount called Torgal and a minion, also named Torgal. Fans can also look forward to fighting a powerful creature named Ifrit. Titled, The Path Infernal, the event will bring unique gears and other items as well, that players can collect in the collaboration.
