Valorant is always known for its tricky and intricate maps. Players need to have proper tactics to use the advantages and counter-setups of the maps. For example, Split and Bind have always been defender-friendly maps. Whereas Lotus and Sunset are helpful for the attacker with more choke points.

With the recent patch 8.11, Riot has announced a new map called Abyss, which was launched on June 11. Initially, it wasn’t added for the competitive scenario, but now the map is available for ranked matches as well. And that’s where the trouble began.

Valorant has made Abyss available for ranked matches on PC on June 25, 2024. However, other maps are available to play in ranked matches on consoles. But fans are divided in their respective opinions regarding this decision. So, why’s that? Actually, unlike other maps, the map doesn’t have any boundaries, so you can fall off the edge. Also, the map has a lot of problems, like being killed from the bottom or numerous chokepoints and loopholes.

Recently, a fan went to Reddit and showed their disappointment in getting dodged every time they got Abyss to play. And this happened five times when he wasn’t able to play the map.

Finally, they were forced to play Sunset, as nobody dodged it, and they had to play that, although they hated the map. This fan also thinks the community is a bit stubborn for a new change in the game.

On the other hand, another fan has also expressed their disgust, but this time for getting the newest map in the game four times in a row.

They are annoyed that they have been getting this map over and over again. Isn’t there any other map in the game? This is exactly what is running through the mind of that fan.

How to Play Abyss in Valorant?

Now taking a look at the map layout, it’s a no-brainer that the mid-area is the most crucial part of the map. So, stacking the mid with an operator like Ascent. For defenders, just like other maps, you need to waste the utilities of the attackers while fighting the sites.

If the attack comes from the other site, flanking would be easy from the attacker’s spawn. 3 stacks on one side with a lone Sentinel on the other and another player in the middle for info is the current meta on the map.

For attackers, the best way to play is to stack four on a single side and get one anchor player to lurk through the midfield. You can also play a 3-1-1 split, with one player on the other site using fake utilities and spam to gather some information and confuse the defenders.

After planting, defusing the bomb is going to be hard for the defenders with good post-plant utilities. If you don’t have them, you should push the enemies through CT or the A/B link.
