Valorant‘s recent console beta release was met with a lot of success as players flocked to join the servers. But there’s been a slight problem. Players on Xbox and PS5 have reported frequent disconnections and AFK behavior, disrupting gameplay.

Many users have shared their frustrations on the r/VALORANT subreddit, noting that almost every game has at least one person going AFK or leaving mid-match to play another game, making it difficult to enjoy a match.

Riot Games officially announced the console port of Valorant during Summer Game Fest, with a limited beta starting on June 11, 2024. Despite the excitement for the release, the community quickly noticed people disconnecting and going AFK.

Players are airing out their frustration over the lack of serious consequences for such actions. Despite the addition of a Competitive game mode, players might not feel the stakes are high enough to stay committed to matches.

The console version has also been plagued with connection issues, causing frequent disconnections. This has led to many players being kicked from games, often resulting in penalties and bans for something that’s not entirely their fault, as observed in various user comments.

Riot has acknowledged these issues and has implemented some fixes, but the problem persists. The ban system in place punishes repeat offenders, but it’s unclear if the current penalties are sufficient to deter this behavior on a larger scale.

Riot temporarily disabled the Surrender and Remake menus due to bugs, leaving players stuck in unbalanced games. The Deathmatch mode was also removed temporarily to fix unspecified issues.

Despite these issues, the console version of Valorant has received positive feedback for its gameplay mechanics. The introduction of Focus Mode, which adjusts joystick sensitivity for more precise aiming, has been well-received. Despite positive initial feedback on this feature, it has not been enough to overshadow the disconnection issues.

For the console port to thrive, Riot needs to ensure server stability and implement effective penalties for disruptive behavior.

As it stands, the game’s community is losing patience, and without swift action, Valorant‘s console debut may falter before it fully launches.

Despite these setbacks, there is hope that Riot Games will address these issues before the full release. The company has promised that the console version will not launch until the servers and code are fully optimized.

Until then, players are encouraged to report any problems they encounter to help developers fine-tune the game. The community’s feedback will be crucial in ensuring that Valorant’s console release lives up to its potential.
