Valorant Updates on X has revealed that Riot Games is working on a feature called “Black List” that will provide Valorant players with the option to basically block/restrict players. When a player is added to Black List can’t send you a friend request or group invitation and they’re completely muted throughout the game.

This feature is extremely useful and should’ve been in the game since day one. Players are wondering if this feature will work like Call of Duty‘s block list that informs the player if a blocked player has joined the match.

Many fans also pointed out that the game also needs an “Avoid Player” feature. The game was originally released for Windows in 2020, and finally, 4 years later, the game was released for the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.

The free-to-play first-person tactical hero shooter has been a popular game for many years now but if Riot doesn’t do something about the toxicity, it may soon lose its player base.

In May 2024, Riot announced that they are rolling out new guidelines to take down toxic players in Valorant. This announcement was made shortly after streamer Taylor Morgan faced harassment in a public lobby.

She pointed out in a post that suspensions are not enough and hardware bans are the best way to get rid of toxic players. Many popular games such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Counter-Strike: 2 are getting ruined just because of their player base.

Studios take certain measures to reduce toxicity but somehow, players still find ways to ruin the game for everyone else. It is unacceptable for players to harass people in the name of “s**t talking,” and as a community, players need to make sure that they report such toxic players to make the gaming experience better for everyone.
