Valorant‘s rank system has always been an ecstatic aspect of the game. It features ranks from Iron Iron all the way to Radiant through Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Ascendant, and Immortal. However, with every new episode, your rank gets reset.

You will demote at least 3 to 4 ranks in the new episode from what you had in the immediate previous episode. However, there are different opinions about this rank system in the game.

When ranks get reset for numerous players in the game, sometimes it might be a bit disgusting to players who have worked incredibly hard to achieve that rank. Each rank in the game has three divisions. So, if you are in Diamond 3, you will get demoted to a maximum of Platinum 3 or 2.

Now, this looks like a big deal, but if somehow your new episode doesn’t get well, then it will be hard to reach the previous episode’s ranks. Also, this rank reset system is going to be a heavy blow for the console players as well.

However, one fan on Reddit showed his support for the rank system of the game. He has stated that a rank reset is an opportunity for players to improve their past mistakes in the previous ranks. Also, in lower ranks after the rank reset, players can try experimenting with characters outside of their comfort zones.

In higher ranks, you can hardly do that in fear of poor performance that might lead to a huge RR loss. For example, if you are a controller main, you won’t try playing with duelists. But in a new episode, you can easily try your hands on Raze, Jett, Iso, and many more because those lobbies will be a lot easier than your capabilities.

Many fans have voiced their opinions regarding this rank system in the game. Some say it’s not a big deal to be deranked at the start of every episode, and some say it’s pretty harsh for the players to get back the rank again.

For example, this fan is okay with the healthy mindset of the players who are okay to take risks at the lower ranks. He has stated that people who don’t like being deranked do so because they are unsure about their abilities to get that rank back.

Also, players who hate the rank reset mechanism can’t show off their rank badges after a new episode.

On the other hand, another fan has stated some logical reasons for not supporting the rank reset mechanism.

He has stated that once you start the new episode with lower ranks, you tend to develop bad and risky habits in lower-ranked lobbies, which will eventually lead you to face difficulties in higher lobbies.
