York’s greed to become a Celestial Dragon forced her to betray her creator and the rest of the satellites. While initially, she acted like an ally, the revelation of her being the main instigator of the Egghead battle was certainly shocking. Thus she was considered a flaw on Vegapunk’s part.

However, according to a One Piece fan, York was not an intelligence flaw but the manifestation of Vegapunk’s hidden greed that he himself was not aware of. This greed that he embodied in York had no direction and only went for the biggest authority, thus making Vegapunk responsible for the destruction at Egghead.

York’s Desire To Become A Celestial Dragon

York’s main function as a satellite was to eat, go to the bathroom, and sleep on behalf of the other satellites as they focused on their research. As she was an embodiment of Vegapunk’s greed, he did not want her to get involved much in the research, but she knew everything because of the connection between all the satellites.

When Vegapunk visited Mary Geoise, he and the other satellites witnessed the cruelty of the Celestial Dragons towards the people and their slaves. While every satellite despised them for their actions, York found a sense of satisfaction in their authority and wanted to be a part of it as this would fulfill her desire and greed.

Thus, she decided to betray Vegapunk and the rest of the satellites by contacting the Five Elders and informing them about Vegapunk’s illegal research on the Void Century. She also agrees to spy for the Five Elders in exchange for getting the Celestial Dragon status and finally fulfilling her greed.

He wanted to know everything about the One Piece world, but these traits were accompanied by positive values, which stopped him from going in the wrong direction.

However, when he separated his greed and planted it in York, he made his desires subjective as they did not have any direction to go. Thus, York chose to aim for the biggest power in the One Piece world without thinking of the consequences that her actions would cause.

While it can be argued that this greed within York was a manifestation of Vegapunk’s personality, its thirst for the title of a Celestial Dragon was something that Vegapunk cannot be blamed for. Although it might be a dark trait within his personality, he never let it get manifested until he embodied it within York.
