Ever since the concept of Gods and Angels was introduced in Dragon Ball, the narrative of the series has changed drastically. Many fans believe that the most ideal candidate to become the next God of Destruction will definitely be Vegeta because of the similarities between the personalities of the current God of Destruction and the Saiyan Prince. However, his responsibilities as a warrior of Universe 7, a father, and a husband make this scenario highly unlikely.

But according to a Dragon Ball theory, Akira Toriyama might have already secretly set up two Dragon Ball characters who would be a better choice in replacing Beerus as God of Destruction than Vegeta. These two characters are none other than Frieza and Piccolo.

The First Ideal Candidate to Replace Beerus

Becoming a God of Destruction is not an easy task. It requires the character to be ultimately strong and decisive. Not only that, the God of Destruction needs to be ruthless in terms of destroying planets in order to remove any risk that would harm the development and evolution of the universe assigned to them.

According to a theory posted by u/DrPurpleMan on Reddit, although initially Vegeta was the perfect choice for becoming a God of Destruction, he has become too emotional.

The theory stated:

I’d have him remark that he’s grown too soft-hearted and attached to Earth, what with babysitting Bulla and all, and that Vegeta isn’t the suitable successor he thought he would be since Vegeta is still too emotionally weighed down by either his guilt or attachments. Thus, Frieza is the only suitable successor for Universe 7.

Thus, the only character who fulfills all the criteria to be a God of Destruction besides Vegeta is Frieza. He is ruthless, powerful, and cunning. Also, if Frieza enters the race to earn the title, the battle between him and Vegeta’s Ultra Ego abilities would be an interesting plot for the sequel to Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods.

The Second Ideal Candidate to Replace Beerus

The Dragon Ball theory started a discussion among fans, and while Frieza becoming a God of Destruction was appreciated by a lot of fans, Piccolo’s name was also listed multiple times. While Piccolo does not look like someone who would enjoy being Beerus’ replacement, he is a better candidate than Frieza and Vegeta.

Piccolo is already a God to some extent because of his fusion with Kami, who was a guardian deity for Earth.

Secondly, Piccolo, just like Frieza, is one of the strongest characters in the entire series, and the latest Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero proved it when he was able to defeat Cell Max along with Gohan.

Thirdly, Piccolo does not have any major attachments to Earth like Vegeta has in terms of his wife and children. And finally, Piccolo does not shy away from making tough decisions in moments of danger. Thus, he would be the ideal candidate to replace Beerus and become the God of Destruction in the Dragon Ball universe.
