Once again, the Call of Duty community is finding themselves against so many hackers and cheaters, reminding them of the infamous Verdansk era. The recent resurgence of hackers is mostly due to the addition of Modern Warfare 3 on Xbox Game Pass.

With crossplay, these hackers not only ruin the gameplay for the PC players but also affect the console lobbies as well. While players find cheaters in almost every lobby, they are left wondering if this crisis will ever be contained or not.

At first, the announcement of Modern Warfare 3 being available on Game Pass seemed like a golden opportunity for many players to enjoy the game without paying money extra if they already have a subscription.

However, what players don’t realize is that this will also bring many cheaters to the game at a lower cost, reenacting the horror of past Verdansk days.

The Verdansk map is famous for not only bringing a great amount of nostalgia in players, but also reminding the players of the frustration they faced as the map lobbies were filled with aimbotters and wallhackers.

Activision was able to control these hackers by banning them in waves, however, it seems like with cheaper entry costs, these hackers have resurfaced.

These hackers are mostly PC players and with Game Pass’ low cost, they are ruining the gameplay experience of every player in the lobby. However, Console players are the ones who are super angry as they feel the issue is with the crossplay feature altogether and should be removed.

Players are finding cheaters in almost every match.

Console players are frustrated and want crossplay between different platforms to be over.

Some players are blaming the game’s addition to the Game Pass (cheaper to make a new account).

Console players are the most frustrated ones right now.

These comments show that players are fed up with all the unfair advantages that cheaters enjoy, especially from PC. Players are also demanding action like the removal of crossplay to restore the integrity of the game.

How Activision and Developers Can Address and Fix the Issues

The solution to the resurgence of hackers and cheaters isn’t always simple, but Treyarch and the other developers need to start somewhere. The first step would be to invest in more robust anti-cheat systems that have the capability to find and remove new hacking techniques.

The most obvious and quick way to get rid of the console player’s frustration would be to disable the crossplay between console and PC for a certain period while the developer is looking to find and fix the issue.

Another way to fix this issue would be to remove the game from Xbox Game Pass temporarily or permanently as it will not only reduce the PC player count but also increase the cost of creating a temporary or secondary account for cheating purposes.

In the end, players either have to take a chance during matchmaking or wait for developers to address and fix the issue.
