In the comics, Monica Rambeau is the second character to take up the mantle of Captain Marvel after being bombarded by extradimensional energy, which granted her superpowers. Her powers include energy absorption, manipulation, and the ability to convert her body into any kind of energy that lies within the electromagnetic spectrum. She can also fly at the speed of light while in her energy form in the deep vacuum of space.

The merch also reveals a miniature symbol, which most likely hints at the possible S.W.O.R.D. connection that was shown in the trailer. As an agent of S.W.O.R.D., Monica Rambeau might be a part of the investigative team which will uncover the deeply unsettling world of Scarlet Witch’s altered reality.

In the trailer, a grown-up Monica Rambeau was seen lying on the ground in what seems like an aftermath of a massive explosion. This might explain how Monica Rambeau gains her powers and becomes the second Captain Marvel.
