Space Marine 2‘s Creative Director, Oliver Hollis-Leick, revealed in an interview with GameReactor that the game will offer a variety of multiplayer modes. Players can expect the traditional PvP mode and a PvE operations mode, which acts as an extension of the story campaign. Hollis-Leick spoke about the replayability of the new game mode, saying:

That mode is also very replayable, because it’s no longer directly tied to the story. We can vary the enemy types, it has life after the end of the campaign, it’s very good for replayability.

In this mode, players will control additional squads commanded by Titus, completing objectives and facing challenges from different perspectives on the battlefield. Players will not only hear conversations over Vox with Titus but will also get to play as these additional squads, experiencing the battlefield from different perspectives.

In the PvE operations mode, players can choose from six different classes, each with a unique playstyle. This variety allows for different approaches to missions and makes it so there is a high level of replayability. The mode is designed to be deeply tied to the story, offering a different perspective on the ongoing war in the game’s universe.

While specific details about post-launch support are not yet available, the developers are focused on creating a solid base for the game from which they can grow. Players can expect continued support for both PvP and PvE modes, with the potential for new modes, maps, and other content updates.

With its focus on storytelling, gameplay, and co-op action, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2‘s PvE mode is shaping up to be a standout feature of the game. By offering a unique blend of storytelling and gameplay, Space Marine 2 could indeed be a Helldivers 2 killer, setting a new standard for cooperative multiplayer experiences in the Warhammer 40K universe.
