Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 is nearing its release date of 5 September. But fans are getting more and more annoyed as some information has still not been revealed. Many missing details have been brought up such as system requirements, season pass content, and the exclusive Ultramarine Champion skin.

Fans have been excited and ready for the game’s release but are hesitant to commit to pre-orders without knowing these details. This lack of communication is troubling since fans want to make informed purchases.

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2’s Marketing Has Been a Bit Hit or Miss

×

The game’s marketing strategy and lack of clarity have been brought up by fans on Reddit. One of the primary concerns is the Space Marine 2 system requirements. Gamers with older rigs are worried as they await confirmation if their hardware can handle the game. Despite the excitement, many fear their current setups might not be enough.

There also hasn’t been any visual confirmation for the Ultramarine Champion skin included in the ultimate edition. Although the Macragge’s Chosen DLC and certain weapon skins have been shown, the bonus in the ultimate edition still remains under wraps. And for players who are considering spending on premium editions, this is a problem.

Saber Interactive has previously assured players that the game will not include microtransactions, instead offering cosmetic items through a season pass. Focus Entertainment’s Brand Manager confirmed that all gameplay content will be free, with paid DLCs being purely cosmetic.

But this marketing strategy has also drawn criticism for its seemingly contradictory stance on microtransactions. Despite claims that Space Marine 2 will not feature microtransactions, the inclusion of paid cosmetic options has confused the community.

Just a few days ago, an early developer build of Space Marine 2 was leaked online. While this early version is nearly complete and playable, it contains missing assets and placeholder elements. The developers have urged fans to avoid this leaked build to ensure they experience the final polished product.

Surprisingly enough the leak had the complete opposite effect from what people expected. Players have admitted to pre-ordering the game after trying out the leaked build saying the game is better than they thought.

The game’s trailers containing both story and gameplay, have been well-received, and the promise of new modes and content keeps the anticipation alive. Fans are hopeful that the final release will meet their expectations and provide the experience they have been waiting for.
