Space Marine 2 looks to be a title that fans are excited about. It will be released almost 13 years after the first title in the subseries. Space Marines in the game will be seen going against Tyranids and the forces of chaos.

The former is a composite species that comes in various forms, eight of which are confirmed to be part of the upcoming title. At first glance, thinking about how the Space Marines will fare against them seems incredibly daunting.

#8 Hormagaunts

These bioforms in Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 will attack in large groups, similar to the locust hordes in the Gears of War games. If one encounters only a couple, slaying them might be the most straightforward task; however, facing an army of them spells trouble.

They do not hesitate to go Kamikaze and inflict damage on the Space Marines regardless of the cost. They attack at close range, inflicting damage using their sharp claws.

#7 Termagants

Similar to Hormagaunts, these do not boast the most robust defenses. Unlike Hormagaunts, however, they can shoot their prey from afar. Nothing can beat the experience of fighting hostile bioforms; this is true for Termagants especially.

One can easily mistake them for Hormagaunts and allow them to get closer, which would help their ranged attack capabilities by cutting down the range of fire.

#6 Gargoyles

Like the two enemy types mentioned above, Gargoyles in Warhammer 40000 can fly. Various trailers for Space Marine 2 have confirmed many of the game’s offerings and have also shown Gargoyles flying in the sky. And because of their ability to fly, these can appear incredibly scary.

Holding the team’s ground against a swarm containing Gargoyles is difficult because they also tear down the anti-air defenses in the game. So, to maintain aerial superiority in a battle, one should ensure that these are met with lethal force and not underestimate their ability.

#5 Ravener

Raveners are much larger bioforms than others who will go against Titus and his Team in Space Marine 2. However, their body resembles a serpent, making them incredibly tough to track on the battlefield; they move incredibly fast.

They also have serpent-like senses. When faced with them, one must ensure they are constantly moving and not allowing them to get close, as they can damage the player severely with their claws and spit venom. Using projectiles to drive their transparency might be a good strategy if they are nearby.

#4 Lictors

Going against Lictors can be arduous because their mental capability isn’t bound, unlike many others on this list. That is, these bioforms have only one mission, which is to cause damage no matter what. They may even abandon the hivemind’s synapse and take matters into their own hands if it increases their odds of success.

One must ensure they are being as cautious as possible against them because, like jump spammers in multiplayer FPS games; these bioforms will bunny hop to dodge attacks.

#3 Tyranid Warriors

The tyranids so far, though scary in their own right, have a fixed modus operandi. However, the Warriors are very different; they can almost trade blows with even Space Marines.

Using melee and range weapons, they can use various load-outs and attack from near or afar. While all Tyranids require some form of attention, Warriors will need special treatment, as one wrong move can spell doom for a Space Marine going against a Warrior.

#2 Carnifex

These are the big daddies of the composite species. These are quite literally built like tanks. To make matters worse, their sharp talons can even take tanks head-on, meaning they are a force to be reckoned with.

Sometimes, even the best defenders are slain, and the best defensive structures are reduced to rubble as they charge with all their might. So unless a Space Marine is well-prepared to take them, these will be tough to neutralize.

#1 Hive Tyrants

These are the leaders of the swarm. Some of the Hive Tyrants can be much bigger than a Space Marine. These juggernauts also wield mammoth weapons compared to the ones used by other Tyranids.

These are the equivalents of FromSoftware bosses in Hidetaka Miyazaki’s video, and Space Marines should think twice before engaging with them alone. Which of these Tyranids, apart from the top 3, sound the most terrifying to you? We would love to know your thoughts in the comments below.
